Modifying frame for front suspension. Keeping radius arms with 12 inch coil ovwr shock setup. Testing full compression and extension. Camber correcred radius arms very close to the frame.
There many more locking diffs on later vehicles and most LUX models from 2014 on have then. When my buddy was looking, he found any LR4 with these wheels on had locking diff. So far, it has been correct for about 10 trucks we looked into.
Working on wiring harness. Looks like only 4 wires needed to connect to main wiring - ignition, oil pressure switch, alternator and coolant temp sensor.
Drivetrain in place! Welded in motor mounts and fabbed up tranny mounts from 300tdi cross member. Will weld in cross member now that everything is in place. Looks like 300 tdi driveshaft will fit which are the same length. Dront of engine will get cleaned up as u can see a bunch of surface rust...
A fairing on the front greatly reduced wind noise. As a temporary measure I added foam pipe insulation to my SD rack on thr P38 that was 1 inch round and that cut down on noise by half.
I then added a curved LED light bar that sits above the roof and below/in front of the rack and noise is...
I'm a big fan of large bunpers after my buddy's wife backed into the corner of the LR3. 4k is damage to the Volvo...just a scratch on our ARB. Would have been at least 4k in damage on the LR3 if it had a hidden winch. Would have taken out the front bumper and quarter panel.
Drive what you want. See what truck speaks to you. If you are truly fearful about trail breakdowns, drive a Toyota. They are inherently more reliable...and more pedestrian. I used to own a Toyota 4Runner 3rd gen. Nothing bad to say about it, but it was boring.
We love rovers because we love our...
We did notice the passenger side front frame rail has some damage and needs repair. The rest of the body and frame are in great condition. No rust underneath!
Yanked the anemic 2.5L diesel and all of its glorious 68hp. Went pretty smoothly and wacked off a crossmember that hung pretty low. We will fab up brackets for the 300tdi and R380.
Bought some 33 inch mud tires for the build. Nice step up from the 29s. Planned to put them on before it heads to the shop for the transplant. Fitted them up and then noticed the fronts rubbed...damn... The whole drivetrain looks shifted forward an inch or two compared to a true defender. I...
Reviving an old thread, but my OEM rack has the top half removed for a flat rack. I had to cut some flat metal stock and drill a few holes to mount the roof top tent since the standard flat pieces that come with an rtt are too short to span the width of the OEM rack.
Holy crap! 140watts in? Never seen that or even knew that could happen. I was told by GZ it capped at 100watts in from solar, but seing as thogh solar is so inefficient, that takes about '200 watts' of panels.
So is that big Andersen direct to ur battery? Fused?
Is that a defender seatbox I see?
X2. I did a quick experiment in the fall and just holding a hand shadow over a 100watt flat panel dropped output 80%! In contrast, a hand shadow on a flexible panel (powerfilm, flexopwer) only dropped 20%.
I dont want to bake my truck in the sun for solar panels. Keep them mobile and store them...
