260K is a lot of miles. I'm at 175K on my '05. Hoping to get to 230 - 240 which shouldn't be an issue. Then it will be done. Guessing current value on mine is $3,500 - $4,000.
You should just go shopping,
I may have been wrong. There is reference in the '06 FSM about a knock sensor. Never believe the internet. Anyways, I've run "Premium" a few times over the 100K miles of ownership. Can't conclude it makes a difference. Driving style makes more of a difference in MPG (typically 17 to 19mpg...
Traction control default mode is on. There is a switch to turn it off, but with a key ignition cycle it will go back to default. 4H on snow covered roads unless you are really in a difficult situation.
Premium is not required. It was a marketing ploy by Mitsubishi to add that label. There is no knock sensor on this engine. It was added for the 2007 MY which were not sold in USA.
Could be the ignition switch. The plastic center interface wears out in the Gen 1 & 2 and then allows slop in that interface so the switch contact traces can't be met. I've replaced it in every one I've owned. Dollars to donuts its the same switch in a Gen 3.
I get to Thailand occasionally and might be able to source you one. I've done it before for myself and then passed it on to another forum member. PM me.
I use Starsan in my brewing process (its tasteless essentially - phosphoric acid and dodecylbenzenesulfonic acid) but it is considerably way more expensive then bleach. I bleach my trailer tank. Over the counter StarSan cost to treat 1 gallon of water is ~$0.32 and Bleach cost for same gallon...
Another follow up on these bulbs. They are nice and bright, but longevity is not so great. Maybe its worth $26 a year. I'll be ordering my 3rd set today. 1st May 2016, 2nd Sept 2017 and now 3rd Sept 2018.
