id call GBR(great basin rovers) they will be able to tell you the best gear ratio for your setup

i think they list the size for the bit but its in metric(just looked 7mm, its listed in the picture beside step #6). if i remember correctly, i just put the ladder on the door where i wanted it and just used the bit that fit in the hole.

the 99-02 bumpers are different and sit alot lower than the newer 03-04 bumper..basically the factory took care of the trimming on the 03-04's and moved the fogs up to a better location.

still unsure with work but will post up when i find out

nice work! i hated the jumpseats in my 99 d2 for the same reason..couldnt even fit my golf bag in the back without some work. glad i found my 2004 without them and i gained those little storage cubbies too:costumed-smiley-007

the TReK isnt so bad either:sombrero: but back to the original question: ive owned both and 2 d2's. the 2004 disco i have now is by far my favorite, i drive it daily and its alot nicer on the road than a d1...but after reading your post that it wont be your dd, i too will have to say get a d1...
