Hourless Life: Documenting Our Global Overland Adventure

I will be at Overland Expo east again this year, but will be on the road for my 2 month camping trip across USA with my Nephew during West / PNW and Mtn West so not for me this year, maybe next year! Just doing the math, I need to go back and watch your container video / post and see if you...

Hourless Life: Documenting Our Global Overland Adventure

I watched a few of your recent videos specifically looking at the traffic per a suggestion by Dan Grec as I currently pull a 12' Aliner Scout camper. Based on that and his experience etc I am really re-thinking pulling anything and instead going to look pretty hard at the AT Habitat. He...

Ursa Minor J30 Wrangler vs Alu-Cab Canopy Camper Gladiator?

I am kinda digging the AT Overland Habitat for the sheer amount of room inside! There is a company called Skinny Guy that I really liked their setup at Overland Expo East too and the price points are similar for entry level. By flipping your sleeping space out of the way your entire bed is now...

Ursa Minor J30 Wrangler vs Alu-Cab Canopy Camper Gladiator?

I suspect what they are saying is compared to my gladiator solution, the ursa you are sleeping "in" the vehicle so as it gets warm your sleeping area gets warm. In the Gladiator / Alu-Cab setup that area is not connected to the heat from the Jeep.

    Skinny Guy campers.

I would love to hear any long term updates on this, I am considering it right along with Alu-cab and ursa minor J30 systems (and AT overland and four wheel camper) for a Gladiator

Ursa Minor J30 Wrangler vs Alu-Cab Canopy Camper Gladiator?

Man some really good food for thought here, Dan I appreciate your perspective and how the convertible aspect when it is your home goes to nil! Then the question becomes why a Jeep vs any other normal "truck"? Which I think you are facing now with truck #4 and planning your 4th trip. (BTW my...

Ursa Minor J30 Wrangler vs Alu-Cab Canopy Camper Gladiator?

Dan thank you so much for your in depth reply, this is super helpful from someone that has drove these exact same miles and your experience gives me a lot of confidence in your opinions. The fact that you are seeing 95% without trailers (and I am seeing this in all the books I am reading too...

Ursa Minor J30 Wrangler vs Alu-Cab Canopy Camper Gladiator?

That is awesome that the flex was minimal and basically caused no issues! I have not read all 50 pages to figure out the nitty gritty details but this is a very nice build! Having the ability to access from inside PLUS the extra room of the Gladiator is a win/win! This makes me wonder about...

Ursa Minor J30 Wrangler vs Alu-Cab Canopy Camper Gladiator?

I believe I have read both of Dan's books already, not sure I remember him talking about if he popped the top any, mostly lots of stories about the travel itself which I really enjoy. The walkaround at HourLessLife was super helpful showing their Goose-Gear and Alu-Cab setup on their Gladiator...

Ursa Minor J30 Wrangler vs Alu-Cab Canopy Camper Gladiator?

What I would like to gather is opinions on going with an Ursa Minor J30 Wrangler vs Alu-Cab Canopy Camper Gladiator? This would be for a semi-full time Overlanding rig for myself (and future spouse) where we would start traveling here in the USA but looking at doing the full Pan-Am highway is...

Working from JL going down the road?

Thx found them! https://www.proclipusa.com/collections/car-headrest-mounts Medium appears to be the correct size as the space on the inside is 5.5" and to outside is 6.5" (each headrest bar is approx 1/2" thick) Biggest question will be is that flat side of their mount if it will size up to...

Working from JL going down the road?

https://a.co/d/aicElQg Something like that but much beefier is what I was thinking, basically you could wrap around and mount to both posts? I went ahead and ordered this tv / monitor mount, I like the tilt feature because I am sure it will sag and make me unhappy at the very least. My...

Working from JL going down the road?

Ok so here is the concept, I am heading out on 7600 mile trip this summer with my nephew in June, I am driving a 2022 Wrangler Rubicon 4xe and I am towing a 2021 Aliner Scout. I have a RV Starlink, the square version and I am thinking of doing the mod to flat mount it on the Aliner so it can be...

Baja 2400. Utah -> Baja Norte and back.

Wow, fantastic report, really is good to hear this is a viable option for light camping / off-roading! What did you use to pick campsites and were they all pay sites or you just pulled off the road and set up? Any specific resources to note, books, videos or such that helped to decide where to go?

Rubicon Trail / October, 2016 / Nikson Overland

Dumb question, but could this simply be "hiked" instead or is there an alternate / parallel trail that goes through the same territory. As I got healthier, my desire to drive through trails has lessened and yet this trail is on my bucket list. But I would have to build a specific truck for it...

    uptick in interest in 250cc

What kind of "weight" can the 250s pull? I think they run approx 25 hp (vs 35-45 for 650s) and I weigh upwards of 300. I am looking at the KLR 650s, 2009 models, used approx 3-3500 range (4200 new from dealers in several cases) The 250s are cheaper and get better mpg but when you put ME on...

    Sleeping in the Tj

As I continue looking at it, I think I am going to either build my own rear drawers or buy another one of those sets from Tuffy products. I had one of those in my old YJ and they are setup pretty nice / strong. Then build the sleeping platform on top of that, so it will be coming out of the...
