Thanks for the input everyone! Besides the led interior lights described below, I will also have two or three DC plugins to charge my phone, ipod, ipad and run my Macbook Pro 17 laptop (and wiring for a DC fridge later too). For the 6 volt batteries, the plan is to have a steel bracket made...

Thanks for your input, guys. I have 3 more questions, please. 1) Has anyone tried the Rustoleum tan colored bedliner that comes in spray cans? You can see it here: http://tinyurl.com/zpu4t23 2) The front cab of my 82 Toyota pickup is about 61' square. I was checking out the Raptor stuff and it...

I have questions about wiring 12 volt LED light fixtures in fiberglass motorhome

I'm rebuilding a Toyota Sunrader motorhome that I gutted and plan to live in and travel off the grid. The Sunrader is the motorhome with the fiberglass shell. I plan on running 2 six volt batteries initially and probably expand to 4 later. I need to run the wires for all the interior led...

Anyone here ever make your own cooler?

The problem is having enough insulation to make the cooler really work. And the problem with having enough insulation (like 4" thick) is that it takes up so much of the interior volume. The people that seem to really have the cooler thing down are the sailboat cruisers as they travel long...

Adhesives!! need some help Sikaflex vs 3M vs???

I ended up using Apex epoxy with microballoons (I don't recall now but I might have used a different powder) to glue/fiberglass my wood studs and cabinets to the sides and ceiling of my fiberglass shell RV instead of the goopy stuff like Sikaflex or the 3M. I decided that I didn't need the flex...

Composting Toilet — Report on 8 months full time usage

Why not just build a simple bucket style head like Jenkins does in his "Humanure" book? Because I won't have a compost pile in my motorhome, I'm going a step further than Jenkins by separating the pee from the poo.

Questions about charging 6 volt batteries with Atlen or Harbor Freight generators?

Thanks for all of the information everybody. This has been very useful in helping me to make a decision. So with charging times that long, I don't think I'll get a charger. If I hit consecutive cloudy days then I'll just have to conserve my energy usage more than usual.

Questions about charging 6 volt batteries with Atlen or Harbor Freight generators?

Thanks. I'm kind of amazed that Atlen seems to be the only company that makes these in the US.

Thank you. Do you guys know about anything about building your own DC charger? This guy built one that was inspired from this page.
