Where to buy a square mog? Advice?

Iain, I agree fully with you. My U2150 has fast axles and Claas overdrive, but there is no way for me to keep up with the cars. I have never intended that that when going for fast axles and overdrive. I use the overdrive to keep the rev down. For example when driving on the highways in Europe...

Where to buy a square mog? Advice?

I don't think that speeds faster than 60 mph are wise for an Unimog no matter what your modifications are. My Unimog has fast axles, overdrive and 405 70R24. For me normal speeds are 50-55 mph up to 60 mph. For me anything over that is not grounded as a cruise speed.

Where to buy a square mog? Advice?

My Unimog is equipped with both fast axles and an overdrive and I make full use of both of them, and this is the wise way to do it ... Of course everyone is welcome to buy an Unimog and run it at redline all day long

Where to buy a square mog? Advice?

The "fast" part in the factory "fast axles" is the ring and pinion. If you want to use smaller tires, you will need an even faster axles, compared when using larger tires.

Where to buy a square mog? Advice?

Possible and wise are two completely different things ... for a unimog with only fast axles, without an overdrive, even if you have large tires, driving at 70 mph makes your engine run at about 3000 rpm which is not a wise thing to do on a regular basis.

Where to buy a square mog? Advice?

70ish is even too fast ... but the point is that it is not possible with only fast axles ... nor wise to be done on a regular basis ...

Where to buy a square mog? Advice?

Fast is a relative concept in the truck world ... especially in comparison with drivers' expectations :)

Where to buy a square mog? Advice?

Hi, From the experience I have with my Unimog - U2150, in order to cruise safely at 60-65mph for extended interstate drives you will need BOTH fast axles and overdrive, otherwise with only fast axles you will rev the engine too much. Regards, Atanas
