Suspension upgrade question... Is OME worth the extra $$$ or should I go with Bilsteins?

Agreed. I’m pretty disappointed with the 5100’s on my SuperDuty unless I’m loaded very heavy. I’ve read that the 4600’s have the same valving now. The digressive valving or whatever they call it isn’t right for a lighter or unloaded truck imo.

Possible new class 5 rig. Am I nut's to choose gas motor ?

That’s rich since diesel trucks sold to the US government are factory deleted. Rules for thee and all that.

Early basic testing of Cybertruck massive off-roading software update.

I’ve driven a ford focus on roads more challenging than that. I really wish someone would show what these vehicles are (or not) really capable of. Alas the target demographic for them never will push them and those of us that challenge our vehicles won’t be buying one.

    1 ton for salt county

Any vehicle can be kept rust free with some preparation and work. Aluminum body is only half of it. Window regulators, door hinges and pins still rot so spray out the door jambs often. Fluid film the frame and suspension components really good in the fall then run it down a gravel road to get...

Surprised no one is discussing the Cybertruck today.

Yup like the Aussie trays with the lower storage compartments. Those should be standard equipment.

Now it would be neat if Tesla would work on bringing out a real truck. Maybe an American electric version of that Toyota $10,000 thing for those of us living and working in the real world. A basic 4x4 with a basic cab and box or configurable flatbed that can actually be used like a truck.

2024 Land Cruiser in the USA?

If a 4x4 shop wouldn’t touch a FF axle of any make or know how to work on one I wouldn’t let them touch anything else on my truck. You don’t need to lift the vehicle or even remove the wheel to fix a broken shaft.

2024 Land Cruiser in the USA?

The conventional FF axles make much of this conversation non issue because they are so easy to work on. Anyone should be able to change an axle shaft, bearing or brakes in the driveway with basic hand tools.

2024 Land Cruiser in the USA?

That’s my idea of a full floater as well. The new jeep axle is nothing like a conventional full floater. You have to remove the tire and the unit bearing and brakes to get the axle out.

2024 Land Cruiser in the USA?

I was super excited about this too but after looking into it they aren’t the full floaters we all love and are familiar with. It looks like a C-clip axle with unit bearing hubs.

Why are torsion bars so vilified? And were Land Cruisers ever designed for recreational off-roading

In my experience torsion bars are next to leaf springs in terms of durability, reliability and simplicity in IFS. In stock form they don’t lack in travel compared to a stock coil spring IFS setup, both of which travel is limited by the control arms. If you crank the torsion bars you lose down...

Surprised no one is discussing the Cybertruck today.

That is exactly why heavy duty trucks look the way they do. They also sit higher because of the larger axles, larger brakes, larger wheels to fit over larger brakes and higher weight rated tires. As for the new Tacoma, Frontier and all the other “lifestyle” vehicles goofy design cues we are in...

Surprised no one is discussing the Cybertruck today.

There is a difference between a cooling system designed for a V8 pushing a 3000lb sports car vs a truck with a 12,000lb GVWR and 20,000lb GCVWR.

    Tires

Those A/T XD’s look really good kinda like a modern updated Yokohama Super Hajari. If they end up making them in 285/75R17(34x11) I’ll give those a try after my current G015’s need replacing in a couple years.

    Tires

I’m on my third set of Yokohama Geolander G015’s. One set each on my 4Runner, F150 and F250. They are hands down the best AT tire I’ve used in the winter between deep snow and ice packed roads up here in North Dakota. I stay away from mud but they’ve also worked great in loose dirt and sand...

120 Volt Outlets Confirmed! And 2.0 Kw

Just watched a YouTube video of a Tesla driving through that city water crossing somewhere in the UK. Seemed to do a lot better than the ICE vehicles that attempted it and hydro locked.

120 Volt Outlets Confirmed! And 2.0 Kw

I’m guessing it’s not on constantly. Like some Toyotas that have a factory inverter have a button the console to power it up I’d guess the switch for the inverter in the grenadier is on the ceiling mounted switch panel.
