Your wife is over tents, but are the kids? A good 3 man tent and a "couples" trailer bed might be the goldilocks answer. Or kids sleep in the cap and you and the wife in the trailer.... If you go that way your options open up exponentially.

High idle diesel and DC-DC might negate that generator need. Plus you'll have room for lots of lithium for overnight AC (etc). Might solve your dual fuel issues.

The only other thing I think I can think of is weight. Gas motor is lighter than a diesel one. Will that mess with your fore and aft weights enough to matter? Probably not but one more small consideration.

Will you take this truck into Mexico where low sulphur might be an issue? If yes, gas. If no then diesel. Because. But either will do just fine. But you know, diesel is cooler than gas and you'll be looked down upon at the campfire ;)

Starlink prices vary wildly. I was just in Borneo and one our guides had his house via Starlink. His cost was around $50 USD per month. So it's about pure ability to pay and competitive market. I don't have a problem with that.

100% agreed on adding power lines, what I think needs to happen is better range which needs different battery chemistries. We talk about large fuel tanks to get longer range. Same needs to happen for batteries. IE ~400 mile range is fine but that's ideal super clean range. Not some 5MPH...
