13 satisfied years with Perfect Switch's Powergate in the UZJ100. Added one to my LBZ two years ago to isolate the LiFePO4 in the bed; 100% happy. And Scott provides fantastic customer service, advice, support if/when needed.

All good but I’ve never seen an OEM tailgate with 1/2 hatch shell seal effectively for dust & water ingress. Whereas ARE, Knapheide, BrandFX, Caravan, etc with full door frame, bulb seals & full size door(s) thereby removing the OEM tailgate from the sealing equation with 95+% sealing... But...

I pulled a loaded AT Horizon (2,000lbs) for a couple years then a Kimberley Kamper (~2800lbs) and more recently the Trail Tailor trailer (~1500lbs) and it was fine for all off-road use and ok for all on-road except slower going over tall mountain passes.

Reply to my "silver bullet" comment: Its only relative to my needs and wants :D A few features... Full size (6.5' bed, LBZ) Barn doors with integrated flip up shelves. This also, if engineered & fabbed correctly, provides full door to frame seal. I have yet to find a topper with the 1/2...

There's still a silver bullet for some company to load...

I'd still want a lock out mechanism. As the gas struts age they tend to get weaker/less effective. Even with my lightweight Columbus fiberglass top I've used the locks in windy conditions.

Anyone have more recent update on the financial health and organization of Kimberley Kampers? I sent an e-mail inquiry to their info@kimberleykampers.com and it bounced; not a good sign.

REI used to offer their house branded soft sided coolers in a variety of sizes but they stopped a couple years ago. Its too bad because they were priced right and a good value as well as useful beyond keeping things cool.
