US 2WD NRR Build In Progress

You may not have an issue; I was just pointing out a potential problem. A simple test... shut the box up overnight and when you open the access door in the morning you'll know straight away when you walk in.

US 2WD NRR Build In Progress

As I am sure you know, not all rubber mats are the same. Some lose, or lessen, their smell over time, but I have floor mats in my workshop that still smell much the same as they did when they were new, and they're over 10 years old now! In a large, airy space, this is not normally an issue, but...

US 2WD NRR Build In Progress

One concern I would have is the smell of the rubber mats in a confined space used for sleeping. Maybe your mats do not smell, but all of the ones I have had experience with in the past did.

Is there a cure for the bounciness of the FG?

Are you asking about parabolic leaf springs?

Is there a cure for the bounciness of the FG?

A notable difference between the Isuzu and the Fuso is the length of the front springs. The shorter springs on the Fuso definitely contribute to a rougher ride.

    Isuzu npr 4wd

Yes, that is absolutely true, but it is normally the case that the entry door for the habitat is on the passenger's side or at the rear. With the entry door on the driver's side you cannot really park on the side of the road and enter or exit the habitat safely. I do realize that there could be...

How much does that subframe weigh? It looks like it would be very heavy.

I assume that the habitat will be custom made for you, given that you probably require a mirror of the Australian design for it to be compliant for a left hand drive vehicle.

    Isuzu npr 4wd

Will you be making the habitat yourself, or will you be outsourcing that part of the project? I assume that the plan is to do your own 4x4 conversion, right?

    My Fuso4x4

Not that it will likely affect you in Spain, but I am pretty sure that a spare tyre setup like that would not survive the rigors of Australian outback travel. Too much weight up high and too much leverage. It would likely shake itself to pieces if taken on a long corrugated section of road, of...

I think that an insurance company may see things differently, especially if you have an accident that involves injury to other people or property.

And... if your questions in other posts are anything to go by, you are intending to fit a winch to your truck too. If that's to go on the front, the winch cradle plus the winch itself will probably add at least another 100kg to the weight over the front axle. You have not mentioned where your...

    My Fuso4x4

As nice as your layout looks, I too would have concerns about the weight over the front axle, as it seems that you have quite a bit of weight in the front half of the camper. If you exceed you front axle weight the camper will be illegal and it will likely be very hard to fix once it's all...

    Isuzu FTS 750 4x4 - Self Build

If it were my truck, I would likely make a stronger subframe, as don't believe you would get much, if any benefit in extending the chassis.

Is there a cure for the bounciness of the FG?

These trucks are pretty rubbish in the ride department in their default state, as the springs are pretty stiff. If you can chuck some weight over the rear axles you will get a much better ride. Putting in some progressive bump stops is a good idea too, as it's pretty jarring if you go into a...

    Isuzu FTS 750 4x4 - Self Build

That's what I thought, but thought I would clarify. My concern would be more focused on how much weight/length you have behind the rear axle, as that will affect the drivability of the truck. It looks like you want to include a bike carrier, or something similar, on the back too, which would...

When you talk about extending your chassis, are you wanting to do this between the wheelbase or simply by lengthening it?

Yeah... but the truck was not surrounded by children (as far as I know) :)
