Lightweight Cabinet Materials - Plywood/Coosa Alternatives

As for exposure, I'll be spraying the outer box with Raptor Liner. Past experience with Line-x tells me that it works well for this. This time I'm trying Raptor Liner. Sun, wind rain ... no problem. Where I live I might have seen hail twice in my life and I went outside just to see...

Lightweight Cabinet Materials - Plywood/Coosa Alternatives

It could but I'm not too worried about it. I've hit scraps of both these 3/16" panels and 3/8" plywood with a ball peen hammer and they both dented. The front wall of the box s the only one that will be vulnerable. The cabin body will be 14g aluminum and it will be in the line of fire too...

Lightweight Cabinet Materials - Plywood/Coosa Alternatives

I'm constructing a 2'x2'x4' "garage" for the front of a square back trailer I'm building. I'm trying to go with as little wood as possible for the build ... hopefully none. I'm using PVC panels that are 3/16" thick. They're actually drop ceiling panels - about $20 from Lowe's. Most of...

SOLD - 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.7L Limited with QuadraDrive II

I have the same Jeep but a year older. It's pretty much stock and I took it in a trade for a Jeep TJ. It's great vehicle but I'm not sure what I want to do with it. Your build is inspiring. Good luck with your sale.

I tend to agree with @ZONE ZERO. That is one nice looking 2dr. JL! Do you know the name of the colour? It's similar to JKs which I believe are "Sting Grey". I think JLs have a different name for their grey. I painted my LJ a similar colour of grey and had the JKs and JLs in mind...

Right hand to left hand conversion

I converted a MGA from right to left hand drive and there were a few things that weren't obvious at first. For example, the windshield wipers parked on the opposite side. The head light flutes also directed the light in the wrong direction. Both were easy to fix but weren't something I...

    Popup frame?

I built a small rack for one of my trailers and chose to attach it through the walls vs. the roof. I did not want drill holes through the roof. These mounts were easy to seal and the walls also provide good load bearing. I'm building a trailer now that will have a full length rack (7' or...

    Gladiator - Good/Bad?

You’re right. The MJ is much bigger. Well, the bed is anyway. Mine is a short bed model Eliminator with a 6’ long bed. The long bed models are 7’. JTs have a 5’ bed. A second set of seats will do that to you. The other dimensions are similar. Both have a interior width of 55” and a...

    Gladiator - Good/Bad?

I dropped by the dealership a few years ago thinking I might want to trade in my Comanche. It didn't happen and I'm still living in the past. :giggle:

Jeep Owners…Keep An Eye on This “Death Wobble’ Proposed Settlement

I experienced death wobble in a Jeep for the first and only time with a stock 2003 TJ I purchased. It was fine on the test drive. I bought it and drove it home about 100 km a week later and it was anything but. The front end checked out fine. The wheels were out of balance and that's all...

Sewing Thread....A discussion on making your own adventure textile gear.

Nice job and very practical. (y) Sewing is on my list of "things to learn". Not that I've mastered it but I have made a few things out of paracord. Like with panel beating metal, I can usually make one of anything. Making a second one to match is the hard part. :giggle: I was having trouble...

    Post Pic's of your Jeep

Very nice. (y) I also bought an XJ new in 1990. It was a Laredo 4 dr., black with a red interior. I had clear instructions from my wife ... "Don't come home with a Jeep with wood on the sides." Every time I see one now, I point it out to her. I think she's mellowed a bit.

Thanks. (y) The tires are 265/75/16 (31.6") Goodyear Duratracs with a 2" lift. I don't do any crazy off roading and I'm not getting any younger or taller so it works for me. The main external mod I have to complete is the roof rack. I built a 1.5" dia. tube hoop for the rear to match the...

I finished painting my LJ about a month ago. I have a lot of things to do to it yet but at least it's back on the road. I painted my trailer to match.

'86 Comanche Long bed, Slow build...

I'm surprised that I haven't seen this thread until now. Nice Comanche build and I like the way you've been using it. I have had a pretty much stock 1988 Eliminator for the last 5 years or so and I've started to use it a bit more for my camping trips. I've been using my XJ for years and...

Anybody Paint there 4x4 Van lately? Cost?

Thanks. (y) Here are a few pics. Again, not the best paint job but OK for a hobbyist and for the type of use they will get. They're both covered in snow right now! :) I drive the LJ through the winter. The paint is Tremclad "Gloss Grey". I am pretty sure you can get it locally at...

Anybody Paint there 4x4 Van lately? Cost?

Not a van and much smaller but I decided to paint my Jeep LJ and trailer myself. Both will take a bit of a beating and are likely to be modified in some way, so I didn't want to take them in for a "proper" paint job. I used Tremclad which is a single stage enamel. Tremclad is a Rustoleum...
