I think these are a great foundation for a build. I saw one (can't find a pic) where the guy used the "cavity" down the centre as a kennel for his dogs. He basically built an expanded metal gate on the back side of the trailer. The open top was covered by his RTT. The dogs looked happy!
You guys are over thinking this (lol). You could probably make this in less than an hour ... which would include your trip to Home Depot to get the parts and the variety store to get a block of ice.
I agree ... overkill is under rated. I built a 4'x8' utility trailer and have put it to good use. It does all of the usual stuff - trips to the lumber yard, dump, etc. plus it's great for hauling home used Jeep parts. I also made racks for it to haul our bikes and kayaks when we camp. I...
Thanks. My goal was to retain full access to the hand brake and the small amount of storage in that part of the console ... and to not drill any big holes that I would regret later! :coffee:
EDIT: I should have added that it's held in place by industrial strength Velcro. It's solid and...
That's close! I have a set of Duratracs on MOAB wheels for it, a pair of JCR bumpers and a Warn winch for starters. I'm not crazy about the white flairs so I might put on a set of black "LineXed" ones. The rear seat will be coming out as it won't be needed. Lots to do ... should be fun.
I rechecked what I paid and it was $28 for 8 (not 4) wheel nuts. Just Jeeps is about the same. NAPA (Dorman) is only about $0.10 less per nut. They actually have caps for about twice the price - not sure why.
Interesting. I have a '95 XJ and it had all solid lug nuts when I bought it. They could have been changed though ... I would have! (lol). My '03 TJ had a mix. I bought some new ones from the dealership a few years ago and they weren't cheap - $10 CDN each! McGards at Canadian Tire are...
Great job on the Toyota and the trailer and it's nice to see how you're both using them. :clapping:
I'm interested in your buggy too. I used to build and race them ... MANY years ago. Any pics?
Not sure if that's Mitch's problem but if it helps anyone I use McGard lug nuts (Pt.# - 64010) on my TJ, LJ & XJ all with TJ Rubicon (MOAB) wheels. They're much better than what the dealership currently sells and they're much less expensive too. I don't know when Jeep went from solid lug...
Beautiful graphics and I still think that's the smartest and best looking rack I've seen. It was the inspiration for my "unfinished" expedition trailer lid/rack.
Beowulf & Lucky j - When I got my LJ last summer I clipped various LJ pics off of the web, including yours, to give me some direction as to where I wanted to go with mine. It isn't the same as either of yours nor is it finished but you guys gave me some inspiration. Thanks!
I have a '88 Comanche Eliminator. I also have a '95 Cherokee 2 dr. and as mentioned above there's a lot of interchangeable parts. All but the '91/'92 Comanche's are Renix model Jeeps. There are pros and cons to each and guys who would not want one or the other. If you find a good...
akpostal - Sorry for the late response. I haven't been on for a while. Too busy working on my Jeeps!
It is a 1988 Renix era 2WD short box MJ with a 4.0L engine and an automatic transmission. It has 177,000 km (110,000 mi.) on it and it runs and drives perfectly. I'm in the process of...
