03 F-250, Looking for some direction (hopefully a build thread of sorts)

@GTI-88 you might wanna look into an older Lance 815 or 835. I got mine in cherry grandpa condition for 6k. With a few weekends and a couple grand I have a modernized camper for under 10. The Lance 815 is quite light (under 2 k), my F250 barely notices that it is there (similar feel to my older...

Got my guzzle system in. Set it up so I can do a filter change out of the bottom of the cabinet in order to not spill water on electrical systems during the process. Unfortunately had to use a shark bite elbow as I ran out of 90’s and live an hour round trip from hardware stores. So far so good...

@krj congrats on your 815! Hope it treats you well! I replaced my working 3-way fridge as I have had issues in the past with them on past campers and they don’t do great in hot temperatures in my experience. The new 12v compressor driven fridges are quite efficient and I can make ice cubes in...

Got the FROLI mattress system installed tonight. Going to put a king memory foam mattress on top of it.

I suspect you might be right here. It can pull air from elsewhere in that region of the camper as it is open to the water tank below it. If need be I will drill some more holes around it and install some 12v computer fans. Vamos a ver.

Got the inverter box built today. Those 1” holes are so I can run a cord inside or outside the camper (through the front window) and gives it some ventilation. Going to stain and seal it at some point. Up next install the Guzzle Stealth water filter…

Also mocked up where the inverter is going to go. Still trying to decided what type of box/ platform I want to build around it.

Got some work done on the camper today. Installed a USB charging port, made some trim pieces to bump the fridge out as it was a touch too deep for the opening (had some scrap redwood 2x2’s around) and got the fridge in and powered up.

I had to take the front door off of the 3 way fridge to get it out of the camper door and it just barely fit out.

2020 Northstar Liberty - Expedition Truck Camper Build!

@montypower were you able to land 4 AWG wire on your DC to DC charger? My Victron Orion DC to DC Charger doesn’t want to accept anything bigger than 6 AWG…

Got the solar live today. Now gotta try and figure out where to put my 2000 watt inverter as it is huge for this camper.

Landed all of the 10 AWG solar wires on busbars yesterday evening. Then ran 6 AWG down to the solar controller off the 1/4” lugs. Getting closer to having power ?

Tonight after work I installed 650 watts of Renogy flex panels on the roof using 3M VHB tape. I may install some Dicor self leveling sealant around the panels for added security. Got all of the wiring cleaned up and through the fridge vent.

Yeah some of the dunes down south are pretty tricky in a heavy truck. Once my current tires wear out (essentially brand new 32’s) I will look into 285/75r18’s + a regear to 4.30’s or 4.56’s. It feels quite light on the back of the truck (just slightly more than my 4wc Grandby) and doesn’t sway a...

Yeah a compressor driven 3.8 cu/ft Dometic fridge. I will have to do some slight trimming on the opening to fit it in place, but other than that it is a drop in replacement.

Almost all of my goodies have arrived for my solar/ battery upgrade. My new 200 ah lithium battery fits like a glove in the existing cabinet under the fridge. Excited to get rolling on my projects this week after work!

This weekend I caulked the front of the camper and re-dicored the whole roof in prep for solar panels. I also removed the old three way fridge and capped the old propane line.
