Lance 815 I just picked up. Lightest hard side I could find no AC, no microwave, etc…

I have been here before with a first gen Tacoma + Callen Camper which was severely overweight. Realistically a Tundra doesn’t have the payload to carry a camper either. Full timing is much more fun (and safer) in a domestic full size. I’d sell the Tacoma and get a 2011+ F250 6.2 gas and cabover...

Also the frames of the OBS trucks are not at all stiff therefore you would need to build a proper 3 point mount for the flatbed…. If I could do it again I’d buy a 2017+ F350 6.2 for the aluminum body and the fully boxed frame (which you can slap a flatbed with no issues).

FWIW a few years ago I sold my 96 F350 CCLB 7.3 4x4 and am really happy I did. The truck left me stranded many times (IPR going out intermittently , ICP sensor, CPS, blew a hi pressure oil line, etc…). I spent more time than I wanted to chasing problems and fixing old things that were failing...

You should consider a 2011+ 6.2 Super Duty. Can get a rear locker stock and they are proven and quite reliable. My 2014 loaded down with a FWC Grandby and enough water for two weeks gets 11-13 MPG. I overloaded a few first Gen Tacomas way way over GVWR for many years. They did surprisingly well...

@Atl-atl i just got mine last week and it is mind bogglin fast out in the middle of nowhere. Especially when considering I had to use a Garmin in reach in the same location not that long ago to send text messages…

I use Geico to insure my older 4wc. I have a friend who had a camper jack fail on his Lance (due to wood rot) and the camper tipped over. Geico fixed everything back to as good as new.
