All good points thanks for sharing guys. I plan on tying the clevis mounts back to the frame rails, installing a front tow hitch in the bumper in between them and boxing it all in (in hopes of strengthening it and tying it together as one system).

@Stormhammer personally I wouldn't drive a newer (ones that require DEF) diesel south of the border (although apparently all of Baja now has USLD) regardless of how much a load you are carrying/towing. I have had friends go into limp mode in the middle of nowhere and it was a less than ideal...

You can get a low mileage (around 50-75k) used 2011+ F350 6.2 4x4 w/ rear locker for under 20k. This is what I would go with for that trip. They need spark plugs and wires at 100k and not much else. The CCLB gets a 48 gallon tank so no need for jerry cans. I have a 96 7.3 diesel and love...
