They had everything covered with plastic during the paint and storage.

Expedition 65: A Wander Through Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru

I finished the trip in the Tatacoa Desert of southern Colombia. Reminded me of home. And with that, the trip was over and I was on a plane back to Phoenix. Thanks for following along!

And the Earth Shook: My 3 Week Motorcycle Adventure in Ecuador

Food shots are great. We must have just missed each other in Ecuador. How did your light/fast moto setup work for you?

They are one of the better modifications I have done to the G, particularly since I sleep inside the vehicle. Huge boost in airflow.

I am sure they had a reason for it. I am just the customer and the paint jobs that I inspected before contracting the job looked pretty amazing.

Expedition 65: A Wander Through Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru

That time I almost got killed by a couple Canadian hippies on the Colombian Death Road ;) They were awesome and we had a good laugh after they narrowly missed making me a hood ornament

Expedition 65: A Wander Through Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru

I thought it was a good idea to cross back into Colombia the day before the historic vote on the FARC. I navigated massive lines on the Ecuador side to exit the motorcycle. Colombia was all but shut down. Only being a tourist got me access to immigration. It was a madhouse. . . Then I thought...

Expedition 65: A Wander Through Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru

One of the funniest things on the planet is when your buddy drops his bike, on the pavement, in the middle of a village on a Sunday. Hee hee Of course I didn't help- who would take the photo? ;)

    STT Pro or ST Maxx????

We have the new STT Pro, originally on my G-Wagen and now on our CFO's Tundra. My experience has been that the Maxx is superior to the original KO for the traveling I do in North America, which is a high-percentage of dirt and technical terrain. The lug integrity alone is a reason to use the...

Expedition 65: A Wander Through Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru

After Peru, I crossed back into Ecuador and mostly ran pavement to Quito. Don't think pavement in SA sucks, as most routes off the PanAm are twisties for days. . . I also finally washed the GS. It is truly amazing how effective the 1200 GS is for travel, particularly in the 3rd world. For me, it...

Thanks! It was a wonderful ride and transformative in many ways. Hours alone in the helmet will do that- clarifies things.

Expedition 65: A Wander Through Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru

After arriving in Lima and completing the Panamerican Highway (I had driven from Ushuaia to Lima in 2014), I turned back north and along the coast. The dune fields were massive, and endless.

    STT Pro or ST Maxx????

I have owned a few sets of both tires. I prefer the MAXX for almost all scenarios. The Pro was of course excellent in mud, but that medium is just not a part of my typical travels.

Expedition 65: A Wander Through Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru

After the high-altitude camp, I took off on my own. A few weeks of solo travel might be good for the soul. . . That route started with 122 kms of dirt, dropping down from the Andes to the coast. Such an amazing area and so little traffic. Maybe the remnants of the Shinning Path keeps...
