Pro and con of full size

I think it's all Pro's. I've owned them all as well, Jeep, Tacoma, Tundra and now my F150. I think the compactness of some rigs is more of a novelty. Often they are over-packed, under-sprung and overweight. What you can carry safely in a full size rig, how safely you can carry it, the...

    2005 F150 FX4 build advice

In regards to wanting auxiliary fuel tank. Just wondering if a fuel tank from a newer F150 would fit in place of your stock unit. Not sure what your stock fuel tank hold but my 2013 holds 36 gallons. Extra fuel while overlanding is a non-issue for me as far as I'm concerned.

    2005 F150 FX4 build advice

I second AS 2.5 set up. It's all you really need IMHO as money can be better spent elsewhere. I have 2.5 AS and an extra 1 inch or so in the rear. I need to carry weight so totally level does not work for me. [/IMG]

    2006 F350 Superduty Build

I feel your pain on the EGR and Oil cooler. I had an 06 F250 CC short bed and loved it. I never had to actually any major work to my truck although it always loomed like a dark cloud in the back of my mind. It was stock when I sold it. Even so I monitored everything with a Scangauge II which did...

    Non-Combustion Heater in Camper Shell

I used one of these for a trip to Yellowstone. My wife and I also slept in the back of our truck on top of a sleeping platform covered with a camper shell. http://camping.about.com/od/campinggearreviews/gr/sportcat.htm

Unimog. Wish this was my dad..

I watched the video all the way through. Personally I think that thing is ridiculous and he's ridiculous. He speaks as though you can't travel this world safely in anything less. It's kind of silly the idea that he's building it with his daughter in mind. I grew up camping with my family and...

Raul I wanted to check on the slider/ steps you were having fabricated. Considering getting the RCI metalworks sliders, but wanted to see how yours were coming along. Thanks John

    F150 overland build

Your truck looks great. I was wondering how and if the winch would weigh down the front end. It doesn't look like it but it's hard to tell from that angle. Did the weight of the winch effect the front? Do you feel the extra weight when stopping?

    F150 overland build

Good to know the axles are out there, but for me at $2500 there's a lot of other things I would address first with that kind of cash. When traveling in remote areas I'm pretty easy on my equipment. I figure these trucks are pretty durable off the lot. A little skinny pedal caution goes a long...

Leer camper mod help. pop up style

Have you made any progress with this idea? I have always thought that something like this could be done using standard camper shells. Very curious if you've made any progress.

Hey I've been following your thread about a February Death Valley thread but haven't seen any more information. Is this open to anyone? Is it something that looks like it may happen. I'm somewhat new to the forum bit a couple friends and I, 5 vehicles total did some back country Death Valley...

    Ford Fullsize Thread !!!!

Raul- The rear locker is the OEM locker. Hopefully it does the trick. So far it has performed flawlessly. I used it a couple times in Death Valley - it may have not been needed, but it allowed for slow going no slip control in some rocks which was nice. Having a 36 gallon tank was great. Not...

    Ford Fullsize Thread !!!!

2013 F150 FX4, key features for me, 36 gallon fuel tank, E locker, generous cab dimensions. It has a level kit and a Leer shell with Bedrug. Having set up a couple other trucks in the past I really try to keep things simple and thoroughly though out in terms of function, practical need and...

Custom rack design for a roof tent & awning on a Raptor...

First off, that's a really cool drawing! Second, let me just clarify I'm not a hater of RTT's. BUT have you considered a camper shell with a nicely set up sleeping platform? I have an F150 with a Leer shell with a sleeping platform using common under-bed storage bins to store supplies etc. The...

    F150 overland build

Saw that we have similar set ups and thought I'd share mine. Love the winch set up you did. Planning on some rock slider/ steps this summer before my next trip. They are great trucks for expedition type builds. Here's a few pics from Death Valley back country camping trip. [/IMG]
