2005 Tundra novice build - "The Rez"

Crazy our trucks are so different. Kings with 2 1/8 and 1 7/8” and it’s level and rides great with a King 14” 700 lb (to me). Trip to Mexico next week and will report back. You have a winch yes?

    Upper control arms

Had my camburgs since 2004 and 140k. 1 uniball rebuild. If I were spending the money I wouldn’t want to go with ball joints again.

    2001 Tundra Suspension Input Requested

Re: Moog. Terrible experience for me. Did inner and outer TRE and the outer bolt stripped with zero effort torquing down. Absolute garbage hardware. Unless it’s the actual LCA arm that moog makes no way I would run any other components of theirs in my truck. regarding brakes: great...

    2001 Tundra Suspension Input Requested

Agreed it’s not ideal but absolutely driveable. Had the same issues on highway grades, I just dropped into 3rd and powered up. Now that I am overgeared w 4.88s and 35s I no longer have that issue. 4.56 and 285s would be a killer combo.

    2001 Tundra Suspension Input Requested

Karteks cost less - just make sure the ones you order are the correct dimensions. If I was spending $$$ on new uppers I would not want balljoints again, would prefer uniball for the same cost. I cant remember the difference between TC and Camburg, I think TC has a bigger uniball - get...

    2001 Tundra Suspension Input Requested

I wouldnt say its a dog with 285s, slightly slower at best. Re-gearing opens up a whole can of worms.....If you go bigger tires might as well regear. If regearing might as well do a rear locker, might as well do a front locker, 5K later......

    2001 Tundra Suspension Input Requested

For those of you that have ran 265's and / or 285's on the 1st Gen Tundra's is the MPG hit on the 285's worth it off-road? My 04 has 153k on it, bought it new with 11 miles. I ran 285s first, then 265s, then back to 285s. Mileage difference for me was unnoticeable, these engines are not known...

2005 Tundra novice build - "The Rez"

There has to be a better solution for our trucks with a steel front bumper and winch. Mine has the BFF like you with a Smittybuilt 9500 and syn line. Also have skid row plates front to back (another 150 lbs). The 700s were too soft and I was extremely close to coil contact. 800s now with...

    Trailscape's 06 Tundra

I just replaced my OEM radiator after 15 years of use with another OEM. The Denso is indeed from China. Old radiator was cooling fine but the fins started to have surface rust. Peace of mind. Still have original hoses on there but carry spare upper and lowers with me.

Qooper's Tundra to Flippac’d Tacoma Build Thread.

I have had the icon 3 leaf replacement for 8+ years, very happy with it. Running with icon 2.5 resis, great combo. I bottomed out years ago fully loaded and over compressed / destroyed one of the bodies. I was told that I need to run a 1” block which has been in place.....based on the shaft that...

Winter All weather Tires. 3Peak Logo.

Can’t comment on snow but cooper at3 to the fallkens is night and day. Only had 20k on the coopers and they were LOUD. Flakens super quiet. Did great in the desert at 15psi. Excited for snow.

Front 7.5" Differential Rebuild Questions (4runner diff in Tundra with Tacoma axles)

I’ve heard from a few that solid is the way to go, that’s what I did for mine. Not sure why though. Super happy with the 4.88s on 35s, freeway RPMs are definitely up there though.

New shoes for my Taco...Need recommendations

Had the coopers on my 04 Tundra: 285/75/16. Good dirt traction, atrocious road noise. Just stepped up to 315/70/17 Falkens, could not be happier.

I also like the ridge grapplers but they were more expensive.

    Trailscape's 06 Tundra

I have the BD squadron sport pro amber combos in the bumper. They are nice but not a huge distance. I do like them in dust, no fog to test yet. I have the onx6 light bar for the distance - 20”. It’s insane. I can’t imagine the 30”. I have 1000 miles on my at3, street only, 315/70/17. So far...

What have you broken/replaced on your overweight Tacoma?

35s, bff bumper, winch, rear bumper, sliders, skids, puts me at 5700 full tank just me, gvwr is 6200. Need to add in camping gear and passengers, will be close to max. Curb weight is 4600, not sure if that’s wet or dry. Either way 500 lbs to play with but it will go quick. I would not be happy...

Northbound Tundra, building a 5 speed manual transmission swapped 2001 Toyota Tundra with 2uzfe 4.7 liter engine into an overland adventure vehicle

Super happy with the VB. 1st to 2nd was super sloppy and delayed especially under WOT. Everything nice tight and crisp now. Would do long tubes if I didn’t live in CA those make a huge difference.

Northbound Tundra, building a 5 speed manual transmission swapped 2001 Toyota Tundra with 2uzfe 4.7 liter engine into an overland adventure vehicle

Always has a V8. Just upgraded the valve body. Just pondering since I just spent the money on a valve body upgrade for crisper shifts.
