is the 1st gen tundra one of the best platforms

Great V6 4WD Tundra! That's the drivetrain I had in my old T100. The front actuator can get a bit corroded and sticky. They may just need to cycle it multiple times and keep doing that for a bit (over the course of a few days) to get everything unstuck and knock any corrosion loose. That and...

2004 Sequoia (Project Baby Panda) - Adventure and Build Page

Good idea on the larger battery. Quick question though....as it's a deep-cycle won't you run the risk of burning it out using it as a starter battery? Or is it rated for dual use (like a starter/trolling motor battery)?

    Thinking about a Sequoia

https://expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/2004-sequoia-project-baby-panda-adventure-and-build-page.198989/ Here's some great base information. I have Tundra, but even with 190K+ on it, it still feels pretty darn solid without being too massive. The drivetrain is pretty robust and the Gen1...

    2005 Tundra Regular Cab "Buck"

Looking forward to the updates! It's always been funny to me that that most basic of these trucks is also the fastest and most efficient due to weight. It probably feels like a rocket (and likely needs more careful throttle around corners) compared to up-tired DC 4x4s (like mine).

Just Picked up my first Overland project truck!!! 1996 T100, 3.4, 4x4, 240,000 miles. What to do first?

I had a T100 for a long time and did some offroading, and only rarely felt I needed more clearance (only once or twice on trails I really shouldn't have been on). The thing sits higher than some lifted trucks, so I wouldn't worry about a lift at first unless you know for certain you'll need one...

2005 Tundra novice build - "The Rez"

I don't believe so, as the CarFax was clean if I remember correctly. I believe one of the POs had the bed off, though, at some point as there is a DIY gooseneck hitch made of a huge thick plate bolted between the rear frame rails (with the top plate roughly cut and welded...I don't see how it...

2005 Tundra novice build - "The Rez"

Funny you say that...I've often thought mine looked a little off like yours. I thought it might have just been the damaged bed rail caps throwing me off but maybe not. I guess I need to measure mine, too.

is the 1st gen tundra one of the best platforms

Curb weight that I've found for the stock DC 4wd is 4,965. I guess that shows how quickly weight adds up. I'd love to know mine, as I really only have have heavier tires, tools and such, and a weird homebrew 5th wheel plate welded between the rear frame rails.

    5.29 w/35s, 1st Gen Tundra

The KO2s come in a 34x10.5x17 that would be a good option, but I have no experience with a tire that big so I would bet rubbing and/or trimming may be unavoidable.

    04 Tundra Headlight Replacement

I picked up a full set (headlights and corner lights with bulbs) off Amazon for about $200 about 6 months ago. The fit isn't perfect (the corner lights sit a little proud of the headlight face), but you don;t notice it when looking. Overall I've been very happy with them, and they definitely are...

    New T100

Fantastic find! Had a T100 for over 8 years...great trucks. I'm impressed by your patience in waiting so long to find the right one! I left mine basically bone stock, with just a slightly larger 31x10.5x15 KO2 tire. It was extremely capable with that setup, so you may not need to do much of...

    T100 questions

Well, while I am a die-hard T100 fan, there is some good logic in this if you want the same size truck with a V8 and a more modern suspension. Either truck is a good solid choice.

    T100 questions

Yes, get the 3.4 if you go 4WD and/or Xtracab...the 2.7 only came in the regular cabs. As for the size, they are wider and longer than the pickups by a good bit...they are almost exactly the same size as the first-gen Tundras (excluding the double cab). In fact, the Xtra cab camper shells...

    T100 questions

Probably not, at least I wouldn't personally...the TRD S/C only works with 97 and 98 3.4s, and from what I understand not particularly well unless you also pick up the URD 7th injector kit and some other stuff (think of the early Tacomas that would run lean with the S/C). It wouldn't be hard to...

Anyone have a Craigslist truck they can't stop thinking about?

Oh and I really drool over any '92 and earlier 4x4 Dodge Rams or any of them with the regular cab short bed. Wish I kept the one I had.

Anyone have a Craigslist truck they can't stop thinking about?

Yup...1995 was the only year for a regular cab 4x4 with the 3.4. The rarest of the rare T100s. And I would do pretty much anything to get one. A black one with about 100K was for sale not long ago...it would've matched my black 97 Xtracab 4x4. If I had the cash I would have the matching pair...

    Who has "cheap fixes"

I just did the same to my shell over the weekend (my slider broke when it was sticky in the tracks, then flew back and shattered against the back. I went the 1/8" plexiglass route. I'm not concerned with the durability because it was $10 from my local Ace hardware and some elbow grease...I can...

The 7 Hour Adventure. Slow Internet Warning! Many Pictures.

Awesome! I'm over in the Cainhoy area. The church I was referring to is the Pompion Hill Chapel on the south side of the east Cooper branch...it's from the mid 1700s. I wish it were on public grounds, but it can be seen from the water (that's how I saw it...paddled by it one day and looked it...
