19k miles with OME/ Dakar suspension for 2015 Frontier

Squeaky Dakars is a common OME complaint. On my Tacoma, a little over three years ago, I disassembled the medium duty leaf springs to add the heavy duty leaf. At the same time I replaced all of the anti friction pads. They have been dead silent ever since. May be something to look into if the...

    Learn to Sail?

Have a look at planning a vacation around an American Sailing (ASA) 101/103/104 course. They pack a lot of learning into a 3 day class/cruise. It includes the basics of sailing, safety, and looks into all the systems (12v, engine, water, etc.) that you’ll likely encounter on a reasonably sized...

    Max Coupler Wearing Out

Honest question - why stick with Max Coupler after 10 years of strife? When I initially had problems with mine, I read this thread and feared that CU Offroad would not take care of me. I shopped and was prepared to buy a Lock n Roll, Ark, Cruisemaster, etc., there are lots of good options out...

    Max Coupler Wearing Out

@dstock, I was able to order a set of replacement bushings via email with CU Offroad. $20 shipped.

    Max Coupler Wearing Out

I originally reached out via email to understand why the truck side of the hitch was loosening itself during towing on rough terrain. We tried some troubleshooting over a couple months, but they finally said they had updated the primary nut from nylock (which loosened even with added thread...

    Max Coupler Wearing Out

Chiming in here as I’ve recently had great outcome with CU Offroad’s customer service. They’ve helped me with parts and troubleshooting of both the truck and trailer ends of my Max Coupler over the last few months. I think my new hitch (that came with my new trailer) sat in RV dealer lots for...

Sanity check before I run new wire

My 7 pin connector puts out about 5A, sometimes less. I’m certainly no expert, but I always keep this Blue Sea chart around when I’m doing 12V projects and try to stay in the 3% voltage drop zone, if possible. 6AWG should get you much better results. Good luck on your install.👍

Convince me an Arkto G12 (or something I haven't thought of yet) will suit a family of 3's needs

The 4600lbs of that Arkto is getting mighty close to your tow capacity, but it sure looks like a nice trailer. I would also look at the TetonX and Mission Overland. We love our Summit from MO and also have a family of 3, though there may not be as much interior living as you prefer.

Artic Tern Wildlands door and windows for sale in black

Would you please specify width vs height? I think the depth is too much for me, but it might help someone else.

    MIssion Overland Trailer Owners page

I have slept with the top down, because I was curious, but I don’t think sitting at the table would be too comfortable with the top down. We’ve been in decent wind with the top up with no concerns. Our 5yo uses the bunk every time we camp, but I think the max weight is 140lbs(?). It’s...

    What's a good propane cooktop?

Cook Partner and Camp Chef aren’t the same company, but I think they’re both good stuff. I have both and think they’re good, Partner Steel / Cook Partner is better. If I was starting from a clean slate, I would build a solid place for my Cook Parnter to be used in the camper, but make sure it...

Stacktech from Tough Built-New option for camping storage/chuckboxes

As someone who currently uses toolboxes for my kitchen kit, those look really cool. I’m not going to replace anything I currently have, but those boxes have some really great features.

2022 Ford F550 - DIY - Adventure Expedition Vehicle Build Thread

Wow. I used to really look forward to you posts, but now I see you’re just a psychopath.😁 That amount of interior fairing is completely bonkers. Keep up the amazing work! (still looking forward to your posts)

@mep1811 Thanks for the reminder on the breakaway brake battery, mine was pretty much dead. I charged that and greased the bearings and swing arm. Timbren recommends greasing every 3000-6000 miles, depending on use. Timbren Installation / Maintenance Manual

You could try ThermoLite board, that was the knock off brand I found. Apologies @escadventure, we’ve hijacked your thread a bit.

    Cabinet build materials

Do you have a Composites One near you? I got some Coosa knock off sheets from them when I replaced most of the plywood in our sailboat.
