How Soon Before They’ll Be Coming For You? Busting Diesel Deleters Continues…

When I worked at a dealer most of the people that were wanting to delete were wanting to delete for the same reason people wanted to delete air suspensions... they were sick of expensive drama and wanted a reliable vehicle. The derate to 5mph BS because of DEF issues won over a lot of hearts...

    Carb at high elevation

Most aftermarket EFI systems use parts for OE injection systems. I was looking at ACE throttle body setups the other day on the 'tube. They straight up say use this part number for an injector and this number for a TPS and this one for a O2 etc. Seemed GM based. Of course if the ECM goes...

    Carb at high elevation

I have a fairly thick phenolic spacer, a edelbeock will not tolerate being too close to the intake. Fuel boils out of the bowls when you shut it off and floods it very quick without a spacer. I have heard stories about the vv carbs (mainly horror stories), I really ought to check into them if...

    Carb at high elevation

On that note I did find this which is interesting. https://www.thecarbcheater.com/ Kind of reminds me of the metering system my original feedback carb had to adjust the mixture. But with modern parts rather than a bunch of 40yo obsolete stuff that barely worked when new. And if anything goes...

How Soon Before They’ll Be Coming For You? Busting Diesel Deleters Continues…

Yeah it wasn't a big deal, just software. Not like it took half a day and a mountain of parts to fix.

    Carb at high elevation

Don't you want to lean it out as you go higher?

Which of the big three 3/4 tons would you look at and why?

Ram 2500 has coils on the rear FWIW. Nicer ride but doesn't do the payload any favors with more bits to wear/break.

    Carb at high elevation

Yeah, doubling the hp with an engine that wouldn't bolt to a thing wouldn't hurt at all... lol

    Carb at high elevation

Really day to day I don't mind my carb. Sustained rough roads mess with it but when it starts acting up I am slowing down anyway so it isn't really a bother, off camber stuff it has never faltered but it is always there in the back of my mind... and of course elevation. But pretty much every...

    Carb at high elevation

Lol, he didn't want to spend $400 on a truck avenger... they have about doubled since then. He has a lot going on, still working my way thru though his thread. I have a one piece fuel filter and already have the fuel line in the bowl vent. Currently have a red Holley pump but will be swapping...

    Carb at high elevation

Talking about going out west next year... and a second kid on the way kinda dashed my hopes for a Holley Sniper before then. Any tips/pointers on keeping a carb happy at high elevation? Like up to 12k feet. 500cfm Edelbrock 1403 4bbl on a Ford 302 with an in-tank electric fuel pump. I have...

Same. I really like the Quartermaster but not enough to spend that much for a truck.

Do you regret buying a base model truck?

Heated seats, I use them year round. After dragging around semi truck parts all day it feels awesome on my back. To go one step farther i wish the seat itself could be toggled off so then just the back is heated. When it's 100* and my back is sore having the seat bottom heated doesn't do...

Do you regret buying a base model truck?

I get so sick of the power seats in my F-150. Every time I get out I bump the lever thing to lay the back seat down. Bump it 3-4 times and it becomes very noticeable. My '02 with manual seats... they stayed where I put them.

    Everything Ram Rebel

Yup. And all the fun and games that goes with the lifters wiping out the cam. Not horrible to fix, similar to a old school cam swap.

Will Jeep and Ram Truck Prices Take a Steep Dive Soon?

I'd hardly call that "stuck" lol. Add in a split bench and you have my truck. I like my collum shift, with a auto you put in gear and drive, I don't need the thing taking up space in a console to just sit there.

Will Jeep and Ram Truck Prices Take a Steep Dive Soon?

Once upon a time there was a much larger price spread... I ought to play with it again to see if there is something different between Canada and US though. I was poking at it early this year and I don't think PW was an option, just a trim.

Offroad capability of full size truck

My newest tractor was built in 1953, I farm 6 acres with it and push snow with it. They don't rust out, a little TLC now and then and they last forever.

Will Jeep and Ram Truck Prices Take a Steep Dive Soon?

I don't think they do it anymore but I always loved the concept of a Tradesman Power Wagon.
