    '99 Tahoe - Expedition Build!

Very nice! I don't understand why more IFS lift kit manufacturers don't supply some sort of product like this with their kits. I never saw the point of lifting the suspension while leaving the torsion bars exposed and hanging down so low. Casey

Transmission Breather Tube Extension & Relocation

Most of the crossings stay around 30" or so. There may be one or two a bit deeper. Here's one Central Overland just did last weekend: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N2eTuwG_NJ4&feature=player_embedded Casey

Transmission Breather Tube Extension & Relocation

Thanks! I've found the transmission vent tube, but need to dig around a bit more for the transfer case vent. I'm planning a "High Water Mark" trip with Central Overland in about two weeks, and I need to make sure all my vents are taken care of before we hit several water crossings. Casey

full size pickups show improved mpg

Hmmmm..... My Tahoe just pulled down her best MPG yet after an 800+ mile round trip to Memphis and back this past weekend: 18.67 MPG! And that's with an 18 year old vehicle with 264K on the clock! Ain't too shabby for a fully loaded full size 4x4 if you ask me. Gotta love a turbodiesel in a...

Transmission Breather Tube Extension & Relocation

So the transfer case vent tube runs across the top of the transmission up to the rear of the engine? Just wanting to clarify. Thanks!! Casey

Transmission Breather Tube Extension & Relocation

Is the breather a short tube? I'm having trouble actually locating the vent.... Thanks! Casey

Lets see some full size pictures...

Dude, I love the sidepipes! I've always loved the '70's looks. Here's my old '81 C20 that I converted to 6.2L diesel, and at the time (late 90's) I ran side pipe exhaust that I got from JC Whitney. Looked and sounded great, but the diesel exhaust sooted up the rear wheels really bad. I...

Transmission Breather Tube Extension & Relocation

Back to the top.... Anyone know about the 241 breather? Does anyone have a parts breakdown image for the 241? Thanks! Casey

Transmission Breather Tube Extension & Relocation

Quick question: Does the 241 Transfer Case have an external vent? I've located and made plans for extending the vents for the front/rear diffs and tranny, but I can't seem to locate a breather on the TC. Thanks, Casey

Transmission Breather Tube Extension & Relocation

Me too. I've got a leaking axle seal at the drum end, so I'm going to replace both axle seals, change the fluid, and extend the rear diff breather all at the same time. Casey

Transmission Breather Tube Extension & Relocation

Nice video! I need to do this to my rig soon. I extended all the breathers on my Jeep, now I need to do my Tahoe. Especially since I'm planning a trip in April that will involve multiple water crossings! Casey

    1999 GMC Yukon Build

As expensive as IFS lift kits are, I see absolutely no reason to spend the money and retain that system. You end up with nothing more than a higher vehicle.... you still have the exact same geometry and wheel travel. I would put the money towards an SAS for sure and end up with a more...

    home built rear rack project

Thank you for the pic! That's exactly what I was looking for. Now I know how to build my own! Good work. Casey

    home built rear rack project

Another question: Do you have to open the carrier to pop open the rear hatch? I was concerned with having to unlatch and swing the carrier around every time I wanted to open the rear hatch. Thanks, Casey

Looks great! I've been trying to decide how to approach the same issue with my 95 Tahoe, and I like your solution! Casey

Tire Recommendations: Mostly highway miles + some offroad

I was really looking at those tires too, but I decided I wanted something with a bit more aggressive tread. I agree, they look like really good tires for a daily driver. Casey

15" vs. 16" or larger wheels?

All right, I've decided to go with a 285/75R16 tire (either the Cooper S/T Maxx or Toyo A/T II) and get some 16" rims. Next question: steel vs aluminum? I've looked at used OEM take-offs, and haven't seen anything I've liked. I found these at Summit Racing for a real good price: They are...

Tire Recommendations: Mostly highway miles + some offroad

I'm a big Cooper fan myself. I've got a new set of Coopers on the wife's minivan. We got over 80K miles on the last set! Of course, my wife doesn't quite understand why the tires for my Tahoe cost so much more than for her minivan! :) I've got a buddy who runs the TW Guard Dogs (yes, the...

Tire Recommendations: Mostly highway miles + some offroad

I talked with a friend of mine today who owns a tire shop and is also an avid off-roader. He strongly recommends the Cooper S/T Maxx or the Toyo Open Country A/T II for my situation. He hasn't used the Maxx yet, but loves the older S/T. He's also used the Toyo and says it can't be beat. So...
