Lady Godiva: 2017 Ram 3500 CCLB Build

Got a lot of catching up to do, but the wife and I are on the road now, currently in Banff National Park making our way north. Things have settled down a smidge and I’m churning through material trying to get current, but if you’d like to follow along you can keep up with our travels here...

Explore the Untamed: Get Lost, Find Yourself

This all started for me in childhood, whether I knew it or not, and it manifested itself through a voracious appetite for books. Why books? Books are, in my eyes, one of mankind's (and womankind's!) greatest achievements, a physical embodiment of personal experience, ideas, and mental fantasy...

Lady Godiva: 2017 Ram 3500 CCLB Build

Right? Estimate on the hail damage is $4,100 worth of PDR. Yikes! I never found my ideal place for the compressor; there’s just not enough room under the hood and I’d rather it not be in the passenger cabin. I’ll probably try tucking it under the bed and running air lines to the front and rear...

Lady Godiva: 2017 Ram 3500 CCLB Build

No updates to share at the moment, just bumping this thread so everyone knows I’m still alive and all. Between quitting my job, selling the house, and doing work on the camper (and boy do I have stories about that), the past 3.5 weeks have been a whirlwind. I’ll get this thread up to date here...

Long distance off-road capable moto hauler…

I went with a Thuren/King 2.5 kit for the suspension on my 3500. The main draw was that I could get near OEM height suspension with better shocks valves more appropriately for what I use my truck for. No off-road time on them yet, but I can confirm the street manners are much more palatable...

Lady Godiva: 2017 Ram 3500 CCLB Build

Thanks for the sympathies fellas. My self appraisal noted a good 3 dozen or so dings, most of which are small, and none of which took off paint. Other than the few dings that caught seams in body panels, I figure they are all candidates for PDR. I'm hesitant to file an insurance claim at this...

Lady Godiva: 2017 Ram 3500 CCLB Build

As someone who is the embodiment of the saying, "If I didn't have bad luck I'd have no luck at all", Colorado/Mother Nature just granted us our going away present. The one thing that we couldn't afford to have happen just did. Untitled by Tim Souza, on Flickr I'll have to wait until the...

Long distance off-road capable moto hauler…

A diesel rig from either Ford or Ram with a set of 35's and quality aftermarket suspension is a pretty nifty combo that sounds like it would satisfy the bulk of your needs. Those big diesels are incredibly comfortable and fun to drive. I chose the RAM because of the Cummins and I could get...

Lady Godiva: 2017 Ram 3500 CCLB Build

Thank you! :) Glad to have you following along. Today marks two weeks until we close on our house and hit the road. I've put in notice at my job, the Tacoma rolled off with it's new owner last night , and I'm elbow deep in trip prep. In no particular order, I must accomplish the following...

Lady Godiva: 2017 Ram 3500 CCLB Build

I got them through Auto Anything. They happened to be running a sale a few weeks back that took the price from $666 to $566, so I jumped on it. Not sure if that's still going on though.

Lady Godiva: 2017 Ram 3500 CCLB Build

Update time! With 2.5 weeks to go until we close on the house and hit the road, it's time to buckle down and get serious knocking things off the to do list. First up, the EBC brake install. Getting it all off is pretty standard brake job stuff, so I won't elaborate on that, other than to note...

SOLD 2015 Toyota Tacoma DCLB, 4.0L, 4x4 *Westminster, CO* SOLD

Life’s plan is taking me in a different direction and it is with much sadness that I am putting my Tacoma up for sale. I purchased this brand new from Mountain States Toyota in Denver, CO in October of 2014. During that time it has been used, but definitely not abused; my off roading habits were...

Favorite Big truck all-terrain tire or mud for camper weight and longevity?

Thanks for documenting your experience! I’ve been having one hell of a time figuring out which tires to run and your post pushed me over the edge. I now have a set of AT3s on the way for my truck + camper. They checked a lot of the boxes for price, warranty, wet/snow performance, and noise...

Lady Godiva: 2017 Ram 3500 CCLB Build

Oh yea, the yellow stuff pads create a TON of dust. The life hasn't been that great either, I probably will burn through the set I have on the Tacoma in a little over 20K miles. I will say that those things STOP with a sense of urgency. The orange stuff pads were rated at the same stopping power...

Lady Godiva: 2017 Ram 3500 CCLB Build

Yup! Though I've gotta say, the brakes on the Duramax somehow felt even worse than the Ram. The Ford was the best of the bunch by far, it had a very light pedal feel and didn't require standing on it to feel like they were biting. Not sure why they are so bad, but here's to hoping the EBC stuff...
