1998.5 Dodge Ram CTD - Sally

@Metcalf makes some good looking bags. I'm sure you could shoot him a PM here or follow him on Instagram @ brennanmetcalf to find out more. Don't personally own one, but the soft shackles I ordered from him are solid.

Wiring Mess - Clean It Up - Advice Needed

On my last truck, I had a power wire running from the battery to a resettable circuit breaker, then from the circuit breaker to a Bussman block that gave me 6 circuits fed through relays. Two ground bus bars provided grounds for all leads. That fed my lights and other switched accessories. I...

    Anyone using a VW Touareg

Buddy had the same issue. Diesel Toureg that spent more time in the shop than on the road. He finally got rid of it after over $20K (insurance footed most of that) in repairs. Nope.

2020 Ram 5500 DIY Composite Panel Camper Build Thread

Congrats! I did a doubletake and had to see who posted this when I read the diesel, but alas, my eyes had not fooled me. As someone who got his first diesel (CTD) a few years ago and has since put 43K, trouble free miles on it all over North America, my experience says you should have few...

is THIS a good place for recovery attachment? REAR of F350 SuperDuty

IMO, the shackle insert offers a lot more versatility and security when rigging up a snatch or tow strap. With its two sets of holes, it can be oriented to allow the shackle to swivel up and down or side to side as necessary. I'd be wary of pulling on that tow eye with any sort of vertical...

Lady Godiva: 2017 Ram 3500 CCLB Build

Anyone have good resources for reading about making your own flatbed? It's an idea I've been floating, but can't seem to dredge up much on design considerations and fabrication.

Lady Godiva: 2017 Ram 3500 CCLB Build

Before I launch into this, pictures on the prior page have been fixed. Enjoy, as they depict some pretty fantastic places. And I'm back with a little bit more content. Things have slowed down a bit as we have settled into a more traditional lifestyle with jobs and the like. To tell you the...

Catalina wine mixer, Ram 3500 C&C

My buddy Aaron has an outdoor beer fridge in one of his cubbies and loves it. With a pull out grill nearby it's super easy to cook outside when it is nice out. Only hiccup came when he buried the truck to the point that the cabinet couldnt open and he was almost stranded without beer.

Lady Godiva: 2017 Ram 3500 CCLB Build

Any of you guys with Cummins powered trucks have experience with the "Battery Saver Mode"? It happened perhaps twice last winter, but it's been more frequent this year, with last night being the first time it has volume on the radio. Temps have been in the teens for a few days now, so it's...

How good can a full-size solid axle suspension be?

How's about a bell crank? Depending upon the leverage ratio you could tailor the design to the expected load. With multiple sets of mounting holes you could even make adjustments without having to change shock pressure.

How good can a full-size solid axle suspension be?

Like an ORI strut you mean? I could certainly see that providing additional capacity if you could package it, and it would get you an integrated hydro bump. Biggest downside would be having to carry a nitrogen tank and regulator if you wanted to adjust. Too bad there are no decent air sprung...

How good can a full-size solid axle suspension be?

It's a bit on the spendy side, but I've always found myself intrigued by the cheaper Kelderman kit that maintains the OEM leaf spring but suspends the rear shackle with an airbag. You can adjust the pressure to deliver a smooth ride on the road and bump up pressure as load is added. At first...

Project: Blanco, The 2007 F350 Standard Cab Adventure Truck

I have no idea how you manage so many projects simultaneously. Best of luck getting this one off the ground. Cant wait to see what's in store for this one. I'll be following along here and on Instagram.

    thoughts on full size

With a 70% city/30% hwy mix, I see about 17 mpg combined. That jumps to a 20 mpg average at 65 mph on the highway. I can't speak to the efficiency of the Hemi, but the CTD is fabulous. With the 32 gallon tank, I can go quite far before having to fuel up again.

Glad to see this thing is still alive. Now that I don't own a Yota anymore, I hardly spend any time in this forum, but I always come back hoping you have some new content. Keep up the good work!

Advice needed for auxillary switches on my ram 3500

I just purchased this kit the other day to accomplish the same thing. https://www.4thgenramelectronics.com/product-page/2013-2018-ram-auxiliary-button-kit As cool as the SPOD and Switch Pro are, I wanted something as OEM looking as possible. That and the additional functionality of the former...

Ram 2500, snow chains and 35,s

I have 295/70R18s (34.XX) on Method 305 NVs, which are similar in back spacing to the AEV wheels, and there is no way I could run chains. Maybe if the bottom of the fender got trimmed, along with the pinch weld, but it rubs a smidge at full compression with the wheel partially turned. Add chains...

Was going through some of our pictures, and figured I'd share a few from the later portion of our travels. Some WA, but mostly Banff and Jasper NPs. We went to an Overland Rally in the middle there somewhere, but oddly I have 0 pictures from that. :) DSC_3300 by Tim Souza, on Flickr DSC_3690...

    Need new tires

I've been very happy with my Cooper Discoverer AT/3s on my Ram 3500. I've taken them darn near everywhere, in all kinds of conditions, and they have yet to let me down. Quiet, low rolling resistance, and they were on pace to get 55K miles out of them with our 4K lbs worth of people and truck...
