    Scotch Sundays. Bring it.

My tuppence worth. As a Scot, with family still working in the Distilleries, I have been known to have the occasional tipple... For me, you can`t beat any of the single malts from the Western Isles. Some of the best, IMHO, in no particular order Ardbeg - Excellent Bowmore - Very good...

    Compact grill

I got one of those a few years back - a Weber version. With practice, you can set it up in a few mins. A truly excellent purchase that has seen use on boats, beaches, mountains and backyards all over the world. Not bad for about 10 bucks. I also keep it handy as a cosh in case of marauding...

    Overlanding Phone Apps

Some good apps here - many thanks for a few new little shiny things for me to mess with :) Things I use on android Google Maps -Extremely handy now that you can precache a 10sq mile area. Doesn`t pre-cache terrain or satellite, but just open map area you want to scroll about and the map tiles...

I know better, but I'll ask anyway - why not MRE's

I`d be curious to know how many of you dehydrate your own stuff? The MRE`s available is Spain are pretty dire, unless you can get hold of Spanish Army rations (the most popular of allthe armies serving in Afghanistan seemingly). One of the local mountain guide companies does their own stuff...

    Coffee pot

I´ve not used these personally, but a friend in Scotland raves about them and he is someone who´s opinion I value. http://www.needlesports.com/Catalogue/Accessories/Energy/Speciality-Coffee Re the Partnersteel kettle doofer - is it just me or is the welding, er, naff? My cat could do a better...

    OXO Good Grips Egg Beater

Soz - thread bump! I would also recommend their potato peelers. They are the dogs doodahs and very efficient, as well as being safe for even the clumsiest, ten-thumb cook. I used to help out at a charity kitchen in the UK and would easily do a couple of 25Kg (55+ Lbs?) sacks in about 40 mins...

    Selk Bag Sleeping Bag?

Steer clear of the selk bags - waste of money and poor quality of finish. They are releasing a Patagon model in 2012, which is supposed to be rated to much lower temperatures. A great idea, but very poorly implemented, which is a shame. I´d recommend Rab, as they´re hand made, with amazing...

I know better, but I'll ask anyway - why not MRE's

I don`t know what they cost in the US, but most MRE`s in Europe (including American brands) are quite expensive for what they are - around 7 USD per ration. 7 bucks for some crappy pasta in a hideous chemical-tasting sauce? Not if I can help it! As an emergency item or if I´m doing some serious...
