Not my approach nor am I butt-hurt, I still wouldn't have done it. A lack of time/space doesn't seem like a reason to break it more when parts are getting harder to find and there's such a cult following for those things.

It was pretty simple though from what I remember, if a bit tedious.
I think I just hunted along the backside for a spot that had clearance, then I got out a hole saw and went to town on it. I found the plug in the trailer aisle in one of the big box stores...
