There is exactly 0% chance that is made within 5000 miles of Colorado. That is a copy of the Truma made in China. Even down to the horrible Gen 1 controller of the Truma.
Impressive roadtrip!
As a fellow Canadian I am curious about the red tape aspect of this. Did you have to get a DZ license? How was it plated/insured? Was this all a hassle?
I am really disappointed that after all of this chatter you still feel you have heard bad reviews on the Truma Combi, so I have done a bit of research, and the only place I can find negative reviews on a Truma product is on Sprinter-Source. All of the issues you described are there for the Truma...
I am really not looking to win, or feel better. I am simply concerned. If there are issues that someone is having and I am not aware of them, I would like to be. This way I can address them with Truma, to see if they have been resolved or if there is a simple solution.
I am not looking to sell...
This is exactly what I was expecting, no sources to quote, and a non future forward way of thinking. You can be placed in the same category of people that complained about the car because it was too complicated, and they would rather use their trusty horse and wagon.
This way of thinking is...
You seem to have a strong hatred towards sprinters and Truma units without ever actually owning one. Please quote your source. I have NEVER heard of anyone having issues with leaks or having them run reliably? It's a sophisticated unit, and according to internal Truma paperwork has the lowest...
The only Truma product that I have ever seen with issues like this is the Truma Aquago tankless water heater. I am a member of Sprinter-Source and own a Sprinter, and have never heard of anyone having something negative to say about a Truma Combi Furnace Water Heater. Please quote your source.
Excellent. Propane Furnaces in general have very little to no problems at Altitude. No reduced output as your propane regulator will compensate for any altitude related pressure drops and the intake is a forced fan unit.
We will stock parts as required for our customers for as long as we can. By the time we even come close to running out of parts, Truma NA will have seen the light at the end of the tunnel and will start selling to the aftermarket.
No, that is not the case at all.
This is not a tankless water heater.
The unit has a 10L (2.64 Gallon) Stainless tank around the burner. The control panel will let you know when the water is to temperature, and then it will continue keeping the water at temperature as new cold water is added...
This is definitely an imported product, but it is 100% for the US/Canadian market and has Intertek and CSA approvals.
This is not a import of a European certified product, but rather one manufactured specifically for this market.
I think you may have misread my reply, Yes, shipping and Paypal fees are free to you, but they come at a cost to me, I am just clarifying the cost of the unit because many people may not realize that $200 or so of the total cost goes towards shipping and fees.
I think it has everything to do with the quantity of units sold, not only initial costs. It seems its rather expensive to get Truma Technicians in to train installers, and its the only way Truma will sell them. Suburban furnaces are ancient tech and very simple to install, doubt a factory...
I believe Stan's issue is sourcing the actual Truma unit, not the install itself. I am sure he would be happy to install a Truma unit sources from us, link in my signature. Thanks.
I just wanted to clarify a few things regarding price and installation.

I have actually hard a direct conversation with Truma NA CEO. He says that technically Truma Gmbh (Truma main) does not allow direct sales to consumers, however there are several distributors that close their eyes and allow it to happen, making it seem like this is something that is allowed...
