Sounds very cool. Non-VW rigs allowed?

    3rd Gen (1975-1991) Econoline Changes

Is there someplace that has a detailed history of the changes and revisions made to the E series during the 3rd generation? The wikipedia article is a start, but doesn't give much detail. I'm hoping for something with an in-depth listing of year by year changes. Better yet, something that also...

    1988 E350 4x4 - La Ballena Gris

Nice! I like seeing the older van build-ups... although this one sounds pretty well built out already.

CL Find - '84 Toyota 4x4 Mini RV

Nothing to do with me, the usual disclaimer, thought someone here might be interested. I think it's pretty cool. My grandpa has one of these in 2wd, they're quite common, called a Dolphin. 4x4 seems rare though. ------------------------------------- Link...

    Leisure Travel Van 4x4 Conversion

my only bit of advice would be that if you're planning on doing a lot of snow driving, there is no substitute for 4WD/AWD. A limited slip rear would help some, but not as good as 4x4. A rear locker is probably a bad idea in snow, as it would result in a lot of sideways sliding, a limited slip...

    1985 Ford van cowboy4x4

Sounds extremely ambitious. I'll be very interested to see the outcome. I hope it goes well. Retaining both frames sounds like it could be a key way to avoid a lot of the obstacles.

The Van Plan - Sprinter 4wd - The perfect overland vehicle?

I had the same reaction when i was in Peru recently. I was thinking, "who are these guys kidding with all these cars with snorkels, as if they're going to be fording rivers!" Then i realized they were for dust. Even buses had snorkels.

    New Van Project "The Yeti"

Does the bed platform have any moving parts? For folding up, or for cargo access?

My, what a big bumper you have

It's kinda like if Julia Roberts had braces! No? :-)

    New shop.... Next project!!

Seriously, they are cool, and having full standup height will make this one even better. First thing, ditch those mirrors and put some telescoping superduty mirrors on there!

New project: The White Buffalo (Chevy Express AWD)

Thanks for the info Accrete, that gets me on the path to more. It would be fun to do a project like that. I need a shop! I've been wanting to play with fiberglass for quite a while. Zuren, it's comin along! What are the 2 grey boxes under your rear bumper?

New project: The White Buffalo (Chevy Express AWD)

I don't want to threadjack, but Accrete, do you have a writeup of that process, or other resources for that type of construction that you can point us to? Also, i'll google that term "Composite Construction For Homebuilt Aircraft" and see what i find, but i'd love to see a build thread of your...

    Ford E350 V10 4x4 Build

Yeah, i saw that one on ebay too, and a video of it romping around some beach. Cool van, wild color for sure! Wouldn't be my first pic either, but it is pretty cool in it's own way. The other guys will give better information, but for what it's worth here's my input: If you had more time, i'd...

How about now? I know life has a tendency to make projects lag a lot, for me anyway!

    New shop.... Next project!!

Oh, did Naterry's rig start as a duallie wheel? That's one of the things i didn't like about the ambulances i've seen, i don't want a duallie rig. Never occurred to me that you could run a duallie rig with single wheels, but i see looking at those pictures that he did that. ...good to know.

    New shop.... Next project!!

Sweet! That was IMHO the one fatal flaw of Naterry's build, standing height. Everything else was/is fantastic. Your sketches look rad, i can see exactly what you're going for. Can't wait to see the finished product! At first i was thinking steel or aluminum would be much better, but i can see...
