Is there someplace that has a detailed history of the changes and revisions made to the E series during the 3rd generation? The wikipedia article is a start, but doesn't give much detail. I'm hoping for something with an in-depth listing of year by year changes. Better yet, something that also...

my only bit of advice would be that if you're planning on doing a lot of snow driving, there is no substitute for 4WD/AWD. A limited slip rear would help some, but not as good as 4x4. A rear locker is probably a bad idea in snow, as it would result in a lot of sideways sliding, a limited slip...

Sounds extremely ambitious. I'll be very interested to see the outcome. I hope it goes well. Retaining both frames sounds like it could be a key way to avoid a lot of the obstacles.

I had the same reaction when i was in Peru recently. I was thinking, "who are these guys kidding with all these cars with snorkels, as if they're going to be fording rivers!" Then i realized they were for dust. Even buses had snorkels.

Does the bed platform have any moving parts? For folding up, or for cargo access?
