Zuk does great work, had him do my regear as he is very local to me. Glad to see his reach extends up north! ZUK Gears Round 2 by Michael Rickerd, on Flickr

Introducing the “NEW” Alu-Cab Canopy Camper

Here is my experience with the Alu-Cab Adjustable Backrest for the Canopy Camper. This was originally only made for the Gen 3.1 RTT, but they made a modified version that fits directly into the Canopy Camper. First impressions: This thing is beautiful and very easy to use. This is what your...

Yes, we all run some variant of upgraded mid-travel shock (ADS primarily). The guy with full LT is on ADS as well. I do not have a front swaybar. Many others also do not. Interesting that you go full stiff in the situations you describe; That is when I go full soft. I can make either stiff or...

FWIW, when running nasty washboard roads I am at full STIFF for my suspension, and down to 18 (sometimes 12) psi in my E Loads. * Full stiff was relayed to me by my 2nd gen turned trophy truck driving local friend.

Introducing the “NEW” Alu-Cab Canopy Camper

Your last sentence sums this up perfectly IMO. I went all-in, and have zero complaints. The suspension/frame/drivetrain modifications that I felt were absolutely crucial have transformed my truck into a very competent machine, and it drives even better than it did when it was camper-less and...

It goes across the width of the truck bed (~50" across). The Canopy Camper has two 'bed' sections. One where the mattress is, and another, smaller platform towards the rear of the truck. Both lift away on struts. This backrest replaces the original smaller platform. I tried Crazy Creek chairs...

Buy an Alu-Cab Canopy Camper and install their adjustable backrest?? https://ok4wd.com/canopy-camper-backrest/?srsltid=AfmBOor0rGe13niqu5XIOY4gXTK1LtEfwNBPejwTf0TgCkNYxYKI083i Haha, in all seriousness, maybe try to duplicate this in the OVRLND?? We too tried leaning against the canvas in our...

    Power Required, Truck/Car camping

Dave, Thanks for starting a thread like this. I will share my experiences with my battery setups over the past 16 months. Not as many detailed numbers as you, but it should still be valuable. For background: (2) full-time workers living in a DCLB Tacoma. Solar is our primary energy source...

That is a great idea Dave, a little case for the pump! The clicking can definitely be annoying. It does satisfy my mind though, as its sound is how I check that it is working as intended, but getting rid of it all the way would be very nice. I didn't think wrapping it in something would do it...

I'm one of those guys who is running a diesel heater on the outside of their camper, and here are some of my own experiences: - I am in a completely uninsulated (nothing more than what the camper had from the manufacturer) Alu-Cab Canopy Camper on my '21 Tacoma. - I have a 5kw Vevor unit...

SOLD - Dickinson P9000 LPG Fireplace and GP Factor Canopy Camper Mount

SOLD I have a used Dickinson P9000 LPG fireplace and the GP Factor mounting kit, specific to the Alu-Cab Canopy Camper, for sale. The fireplace has ~250 hours of use on it, and is in excellent shape. It functions just as intended, and has no damage or issues. I am selling it because I am...

    Lone Peak Overland

Dave, I have it underneath the truck, attached with the rubber isolator thing, to the cross brace structure that supports the spare tire hoist mechanism. I haven't tried wrapping the pump yet, as the clicking noise doesn't impact our sleep at all. Ah yeah, it's that one swivel connection the...

    Lone Peak Overland

I don't have an LP, but I do have an Alu-Cab that the wife and I have been living in full-time for the past 14 months now. I have some info to share that you may find useful. - I can't imagine trying to sleep with a wide open space at the end of the truck. Sometimes we have no bugs, but most...

    Project M competitors?

Yes Yes, if done correctly, which is probably safe to assume for most mainstream companies. Correct. Think of the camper frame (not the doors/windows, or how it pops up, but the main 'square/rectangular' bit that gets bolted to the truck bed) as a little structure. Simplify it in your mind...

    Project M competitors?

Massive difference between an aluminum extrusion with bolts in the corners to hold it together, and something like Dan Grec's build (he highlighted the entire build process on YT) i.e. aluminum framing with composite panels bonded to it. Their structures are fundamentally different at the base...

    Project M competitors?

I also want to just chime in on this, to hopefully drive the point home a bit further. Regarding the bolted together extrusion build methodology: If I walked that connection/frame/structure idea into any of my professional colleagues offices, and I wasn't joking, I would quite literally be...

Introducing the “NEW” Alu-Cab Canopy Camper

I have this white one that I purchased on Amazon. Designed to run on 12v, so I have it wired directly to my BlueSea fuse block. It functions, and it lets you know, quite loudly, when the air is 'dirty'. It is on 100% of the time. Starlink Install by Michael Rickerd, on Flickr
