I'm selling 2 pairs (for all 4 tires) of RUD Grip 4x4 #2532 tire chains. NEVER USED.
I bought them for my old van, which originally had LT285/75R16 tires, but the chains are now too small for my current tires. These chains were never used, never installed, but I carried them around in the back...
Remember, your van still has value if you sold it today, which you can include in your accounting -- even if you do plan on keeping it forever! (Probably worth significantly more than my old well-used van.)
Maybe I shouldn't have used the word "depreciation" in this context. I meant (Purchase - Sale) / Years.
I added all the money I put in (purchase, repairs, parts), and subtracted sale price.
I tried hard to sell my van for more $, but as I said -- I used it harder than most people do.
Here is a list and summaries for most of my repair/service bills:
NOTES
Yes, I really did need to replace my radiator 4 times! Body flex towards the end caused repeated failures.
I went through 5 windshields.
My tires usually ended up needing replacement from being damaged offroad -- I never...
I'm not sure everyone really wants to see this, but ...
I was doing some budgeting recently and (in a very nerdy way) I decided calculate exactly how much it cost me to own my 2004 4x4 Sportsmobile for the past 20 years. Here's what I found:
Looking back at my photo collection, I see that I...
Finally sold today, to someone with the ability and motivation to take on the project of fixing up this van!
I had many other interested parties contact me over these past few months, but they all eventually balked ... at the list of repair items, or the condition of the van. One couple...
UPDATE:
Well after getting the van inspected by a mechanic, the potential buyer decided it was too much for him to take on. He is not mechanically inclined, so really don't blame him.
Here is a summary of what the mechanic found. I have a copy of the full mechanic's report which I can send if...
I finally decided to get myself a Handle-All to replace my little Army Surplus folding shovel.
I was disappointed to realize that the Handle-All comes with its own handle!
I had somehow imagined I would be able use the handle from my Hi Lift Jack which I already have in my vehicle, anyway...
When I get my replacement circuit board, I will think about how I might measure the max current (without damaging it again). But that could be a bad idea.
My suspicion is that I shorted the "lighting" wire that powers the LED lights on the switches, and maybe (maybe!?!) only that wire carries a...
Yeah, I'm not super confident about the reliability of this thing, and I really like reliability. At least mine has no touch screen. But I don't need to be able to control (or "strobe") my lights via Bluetooth. I might be happier with a bank of six plain old relays.
Getting in contact with sPod...
I was messing around with my door panel where I have an sPOD SourceLT switch panel installed, and I somehow managed to short a switch control wire against the door panel. (The door metal has a nasty jagged cutout for this switch panel.) I didn't notice anything was wrong until my air compressor...
