I just changed my transmission pan, filter and fluid at 105K and what an improvement in shifting. Not that it was bad before, but its like buttery smooth now. There used to be a little clunk when going from coasting to a stop to back on power, but its 100% better than I ever remember now.
Since its amateur Photoshop day here: I gave it a lift, deleted the grill lights, blacked out a few more bits:
Its the Range Rover CSE (Crowd Sourced Edition)!
I know its just a rendering, but Wow that is terrible. Looks like a bunch of left over G4 parts from 2005; Light guards from some other car, incandescent offroad lights, same old expo roof rack! Those lights on the grill are pointless with today's headlights. The chrome bits should be...
I have paniced about those rear windows a few times. If the commercial disco3 steel panels are available, I wonder how much that they actually cost. Would need to find a new fm antenna too.
This has been my new leaning of the day a couple times. It would be nice if it pops a reminder message about this on the dash when HDC is engaged.
I'm sure there are some great *oh crap* decents where HDC is super helpful, but I haven't really every needed and more often feel like it's...
Good point. On the LR3 the crankcase breather hose plumbs back in the intake just up upstream from the throttle body. This is why it gets all gunked up occasionally. The LR4 is a completely different engine and hopefully they fixed that design flaw.
Get the extended roof rails. Available on ebay for ~$200:

With those, you could probably mount it with off the shelve parts from any hardware store.
The Brute was awesome! If they could get the cost down 50%, it would sell like crazy. The show is a little too obviously "staged" for my liking. Im sure the UK version is all setup too, but they dont try to make it look like "reality TV". LR4 won the sand climb. LR4 looked better going up...
I have the RS slides and needed to replace my compressor. The tactical compressor bracket wouldn't raise enough to clear the RS slider. It was close, but it still touches the slider and makes a hell of a racket when the compressor was running. I provided tactical with some updated pictures of...
Both. I was leading and took a really bad line. I winched backup, and took it again no problem. Its very wet there, buy not a slick as the clay in the southeast.
Just back from a trip to Rausch Creek PA. Hit the all the blue trails with and Lifted Gen 2 4runner, AEV Jeep JK, and 10th Annv Jeep Rubicon. The LR3 exceeded everyone's expectations (including mine), but its physical size was a challenge in some of the wooded trails.
If you go to...
I just took off a set with 46k on them because I ripped a sidewall at uhwarrie. The spare was still new, so I bought 3 more new ones and kept two of the old ones for spares. They still look good with about 40% tread remaining, just a little loud on the road.
Nice write-up Dr. I also found the AUX input level unacceptable - now that its fixed I listen to it 90% of the time. My hood struts just died too but I didn't think to check amazon. I just removed the struts and use the little known spring clips on the hinges to hold the hood straight up. I...
Scott, Great video clip from moab! At the 20 sec mark its clear that the rear diff is unlocked. Did you ever get that sorted out from ARB? Were you using the front diff lock on that climb? I am seriously considering an ARB locker for my LR3 - any suggestions?
