    LR4 multi purpose duty

Beside the 50" curved bar I also added two rear lights for setting up camp in the dark, etc. Thanks to Abran for suggesting switches (I didn't like what came with the lights) and for suggesting switch location in the overhead console I wanted to be able to turn on lights with the car...

Trade my sand colored Maxtrax for your black Maxtrax, selling Maxtrax carrier for spare tire swing arm

I have a pair of sand colored Maxtrax mk2 that have been on many trips but never seen action, and are like new. If you are in SoCal have black ones but prefer sand colored let’s trade. I have a Maxtrax harness carrier kit to mount the Maxtrax on your spare tire swing arm that I am selling if...

Does the rep of "unreliable" still hold true?

We take our 2010 LR4 to some of the most remote areas of the south west without hesitation - just did a 1300 miles overlanding trip in Southern Utah through Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument, Capitol Reef National Park, and Cathedral Valley, and this past summer we did a 2100 miles...

Gap DII tool and changing Speed Values???

Well, that doesn't seem to do anything on a 2010 LR4 - tried changing the 372 mm (stock setting for 255/55-19) to 394 mm, but it remains showing too low by the same 3 mph at 70 mph.

Gap DII tool and changing Speed Values???

What are the other parameters for that also appear relevant for this in that section? Tire Aspect Ratio: Tire Size (rolling circumference): Tire Width: Wheel rim diameter: Tyre Rolling Radius: Mine reflect the original tire size of 255/55-19. The correct values for my 275/65-18 tires/rims...

    LR4 multi purpose duty

We just got back from our first overlanding trip with the aux tank and the ARB awning and awning room. It was a 1320 miles trip from the northern side of Lake Powell at Alstrom Point on the AZ/UT border up through Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument, to Capitol Reef National Park, and...

    LR4 multi purpose duty

As a follow up to the aux fuel tank: I have run through a few cycles of fuel and gained some experience with CEL, emission monitors, etc. Under very specific fuel conditions it does throw a CEL: thinks there is a slow evap leak. It appears to happen when aux tank is completely empty and main...

    LR4 multi purpose duty

It fills both tanks, but it is simple: If you only want the main tank filled, put in 20 gallons and start the aux pump as you drive off :) The FrontRunner “splitter” distributes the fuel - looks odd visually, but they must have thought about it as fills the two tanks about 50-50.

Fire extinguishers and 50" light bar Mounted two fire extinguishers in the car: one halotron and one chemical. The bigger project was to mount a 50" curved light bar, hopefully fitting the contour of the OEM rack. Considered many different mounting options, but ended up welding up a...

That seller told me that the one he has is without hardware... you can buy the hardware kit separately, but costly, and if added to the $255 brings price beyond new kit...

    LR4 multi purpose duty

With two 2nd row seats removed: fridge in the middle and storage in place of the left seat, we had a problem of cargo sliding forward from the top of the FrontRunner drawer system into the cabin when overlanding over extended uneven, rocky, or steep trails. Last summer in AZ, the passes in CO...

    LR4 multi purpose duty

Yes, I created my own wiring loom with a heavier duty relay than the FrontRunner provided relay, along with the gauge/switch and sender kit I purchased separately and modified the FrontRunner tank to accept. See posts 102 and 103 for a bit of info. The Australian place that sold me the...

    LR4 multi purpose duty

I put the awning on the right side for two reasons: 1. My buddy has his awning on the left side, and for lunch breaks we just pull up to each other and pull the two awnings out towards each other, and the two families will have a nice area with cover for the sun (which can be brutal around here)...

    LR4 multi purpose duty

Based on our experience with Bobby's Hole in the Needles District of Canyonlands last summer, I had decided that it would be essential to have super easy access to our MaxTrax. Once you are stuck in an awkward position, or on a super steep rocky hills as we were, it is a pain if you have to...

    LR4 multi purpose duty

Since level in main tank was down to 3/4 I decided to test moving fuel over from the aux tank. I was expecting it to be quite slow based on what I have read on here, but it wasn't bad. By the time I had rolled 3 garbage cans out, probably a couple of minutes, the main tank showed full. The...

    LR4 multi purpose duty

I am just an overlander/adventurer building my LR4 to my vision and for the needs of our trips, but perhaps whoever needs one can talk Abran at carrs4x4.com into making one/some more. After we did mine I am sure he can repeat the process, but unless he builds a jig he would have to mock up and...

Where to store fuel siphon after use?

I usually empty the siphon well and then put it in a ziploc bag in tool box - never had any fuel smell issues.

    LR4 multi purpose duty

Yeah, range should be much improved :) In terms of the custom fuel filler neck I should mention that besides marrying the stock filler neck and the FrontRunner contraption, we also cut, sliced, and re-welded the FrontRunner contraption on its own to get the angles correct.
