    LR4 multi purpose duty

Got information from GAP Diagnostics: 1. The adjustment for non-stock tire sizes supposedly only works for diesel models and not on gasoline models, currently. It is on their to-do list for 2016, though they suggested I try it anyway. 2. "Nav on the go" is not possible on 2010 (2011, I believe)...

    LR4 multi purpose duty

I looked into various fields of the CCF and it is not quite clear to me where to enter it. I contacted GAP Diagnostics for support - we'll see. I had other issues with the iidtool. Although it allowed writing a CCF with "nav on the go" enabled, it results in a fault - clearing that fault is...

    LR4 multi purpose duty

I am planning to see if I can set the non-stock tire size on the Compomotive wheels with the iidtool in the CCF...

Also, with the iidtool unlocked for the LR4 I updated the Car Configuration File (CCF) to enable the TSA (Trailer Stability Assistance) feature of the LR4. I also changed the CCF to reflect the addition of the trailer wiring kit.

    LR4 multi purpose duty

Very cool! Thanks for the tip. Will air it down and try again for next weekend's trip. Once back in town the stock wheels will go back on, and I will make a rear tire carrier a priority...

    LR4 multi purpose duty

Finally mounted the Compomotove wheels with the 275/65-18 Cooper AT3s. I attempted to mount the spare under the car and could probably have squeezed it up in the stock location, but decided not to force it. For next weekend's trip I will carry it in the cargo area - won't carry much luggage...

    LR4 multi purpose duty

Also installed the towing wiring kit. Although the factory instructions do not call for removing the rear bumper cover I found it impossible to clip in the wire clips without removing it. With bumper cover in place I was able to route and connect everything, but I could not reach up being the...

    LR4 multi purpose duty

Got my tires mounted - 275/65-18 Cooper AT3. Haven't fitted the wheels on the LR4 yet - will be interesting to see if there are any clearance issues with the larger tires...

    LR4 multi purpose duty

Actually not bad - all relative though, I suppose. The post goes up right along the center console. It looks dangerous in case of a front impact - probably ok with a passenger in the front seat with laptop mounted on low speed off-road, but I wouldn't do it on paved roads (where it doesn't...

    LR4 multi purpose duty

The two projects are unrelated - "multi purpose duty" :) Don't think I would ever need the off-road laptop navigation on the mount when carrying bikes, but laptop doesn't intrude much on the front passenger space - tried it with my son just sitting. Though, wouldn't want it on with a passenger...

    LR4 multi purpose duty

Mounted vehicle laptop stand to hold a MackBook with MacGPS Pro and US Tope maps and external USB GPS receiver for offroad navigation. I built a custom support arm to increase stability. Tires are arriving today and I will have them mounted on the Compomotive rims, and should then almost be...

    LR4 multi purpose duty

Funny :) Another concern with the aftermarket protection bumpers is compatibility with parking sensors and the front cameras - for a hard core rock crawler, not a concern, but for a multi purpose vehicle I would like to keep all that operational.

Nice - I have had tons of Alfas: Many, many Milanos, GTV6, 164s, and even a 155 a long time ago in Europe... built another Milano race car (before the one in the pics). Still looking for a 1975 (=smog exempt) Alfetta GT to do a 24v V6 transplant on :) Got my Compomotive wheels today. Can't...

In the meantime some youtube of the old QX56 on the trail. Barracks Trail, UT: Los Pinos Trail near Morena reservoir, CA: The QX56 is really too big for this - hence the LR4 :) How do you embed the youtube video? Edit: got it embedded...

    LR4 multi purpose duty

Thanks for the suggestions! Will take some pictures during daylight, but I am sure you guys have seen a black LR4 before :) Still completely stock, but should get the wheels from UK towards the end of the week. Will dig out pictures of race car as well.

    LR4 multi purpose duty

Hello all, we recently replaced our 2005 QX56 after 10 years and 140k miles with an LR4 since off-road camping had taken over as primary use over race car towing... The QX56 took us through Barracks trail, White Pocket, Toroweap, Monache Meadows, Papoose Flats, and although successful, nowhere...
