yeah those Coleman Steel Belts are claimed "4-day" coolers and from an ice retention perspective sit between the regular cheap coleman's (claimed 3-day) and the Xtreme-5 (claimed 5 day). I wish coleman would make the Steel Belt with the Xtreme-6 claimed 6 day retention insulation as it would be...

The Xtremes (especially the Xtreme 6 vs the 5) perform very well in terms of ice retention and hold their own when stacked up against the high end coolers.

Is the Coleman 52 qt? I ask because the test should be of equivalent size coolers since larger coolers will perform better than smaller with all else being equal.

This is so true. I'm embarrassed to tell you how many lanterns and stoves I have. For the 3 burner stoves (426 & 428s), which I have the least of in my collection and not what I give a lot of focus to, my last count is 9 of those. ;)

SgtMac - can you run a test for us on that 52 qt cooler? I'm thinking put 4 or 5 cans in the cooler and then fill it to the very very top with ice to ensure there is no large air pocket between the ice and the lid. Then take a picture of the inside showing the ice melt every 24 hours also...
