    New Bronco

I was pleasantly surprised when we got the email with the picture of ours.

200ah lithium. One battery or two?

Most 100ah LiFePO4 batteries have a maximum discharge rate of 100 amps continuous due to the BMS, so two 100ah in parallel allows a max current of 200A, which can come into play if you ever plan to add a decent size inverter. Most 200ah batteries also have a max current rating of 100A, so the...

    New Bronco

I've had my share of trail rigs and can say that I'm extremely impressed with our new Bronco.

12v DC|DC charger setup for LiFePO4 battery - check my work please

Mine is in a truck/travel trailer application so I ran 4 AWG +/- from the truck battery back to the trailer with 175A Anderson plugs at the tongue and set power posts inside the trailer to take the wiring from 4 AWG to 6 AWG at the Dc charger.

12v DC|DC charger setup for LiFePO4 battery - check my work please

I'd be careful guessing at the 12/12-18 input current draw. Mine put out 25A+ to the batteries consistently, when I asked Victron about it they stated that they "underrated" it. My new 12/12-30 puts out over 30A as well. I run a 60A Blue Sea breaker on the primary side and a 60A Mega fuse on...

    Recognize this tripod cooker?

It's along the lines of the burner I use with our discadas. Ours packs up very compact, is super stable and works wonderfully. I did add an electric ignitor on ours. https://www.southwestdisk.com/discada-portable-height-adjustable-burner/

    Towing a 16ft Airstream with a 4runner? Other alternatives?

You will run over GVWR long before exceeding "tow rating" 99.99% of the time. GVWR, GCWR and GAWR are typically the limiting factors. "Tow rating" is pretty much a worthless number used for marketing.

    Towing a 16ft Airstream with a 4runner? Other alternatives?

You're taking numbers out of the "manual" to determine available payload, yet claiming everyone else doesn't know what they are talking about? And everything you've added, including any suspension upgrades goes against the available payload. The only numbers you need to worry about are GVWR...

    Grilling fail

Not exactly "grilling", but I decided to try my hand at baked potato's cooked in the camp fire coals a few years back. Thought everything was going great, pulled them from the fire and took them out of the foil......nothing but empty black shells filled with some black powder ?‍♂️

    Thermometer to see outside temps

Once I started mounting the box I realized that the lid could trap water, so I drilled a drain hole on each side. So far it's reading accurate.

    Thermometer to see outside temps

This is my latest attempt to shield the sensor from surface heat. The box will mount under the trailer tongue. The sensor is mounted to the removable cover with 3M VHB double sided tape. Drop the four cover screws and have full access to the sensor for battery changes. I put heat...

    Thermometer to see outside temps

I originally put it on one side of the frame, but it was picking up heat off the ground, so I moved it up to under the tongue. Tomorrow I'm going to mount a plastic box under the tongue with the sides cut out for airflow. I'm going to cover the top and bottom of the box with a thermal jacket...

    Thermometer to see outside temps

Yeah, it's been zip tied to the frame for over a year now. My original one was the series down that didn't have the O-ring on the battery cover, I replaced it with the one I linked that has been improved for water resistance.

    Thermometer to see outside temps

Correct, I misspoke. They are "water resistant", to the point of being zip tied under our trailer for well over a year and pulled down the road in many snow and rain storms and still no sign of water intrusion. The ones I have are water resistant and rated for outdoor use, but not rated to be...

    Thermometer to see outside temps

I use SensorPush inside the refrigerator and for outdoor conditions on our travel trailer. They are very accurate and sensitive, so you have to find an outdoor location that is shaded and away from any potential heat sources (such as asphalt, roofs, etc). Battery life is good and they are...

Detroit Locker: Looking for Real World Experience

I ran a Detroit in the rear of my '74 Bronco and it was OK on the road...... As far a failures with selectable, that's likely due to installation issues, I ran ARB's in the front and rear of my Tundra on the toughest trails across America and never had a failure, including any air leaks. I...

    2021 Titan XD Build

Decided to put some Bilstein 5100's on the back. It may be my imagination, but it feels a little more connected to the road now and less bounce/thrashing while climbing our driveway. It's the same thing I experienced with my last 2500HD when I installed Bilsteins.
