    Cooper ST/Maxx review - 235/85/r16 - First Gen. Tacoma

I have the exact same tires on my 1st Gen Tacoma 4-door. Hands down the absolute best dual-purpose tire I've ever ran, so good that I will be replacing them with the exact same thing whenever they finally wear out and we're getting ready to replace the Duracraps on our FJ with S/T Maxx as well...

2000 Tundra "catch and release" expo rig

I'll come out and help with the build if you'll take me fly fishing :sombrero:

If you were going to have a do everything Tacoma or Tundra, what model would you get.

FYI - Unless I've missed something major, the Tundra has never been offered with a factory rear electric locker, regardless of trim package. Tacomas with the TRD package "can" be equipped with a factory electric locker, but my understanding is that this isn't true in every case. I've owned a...

To straight axle swap or not? Let's hear it.

I agree with a lot of the comments here. If done properly, SAS can be a benefit, especially when running tires over 35". I did the SAS on my '01 Tundra at 26,000 miles and kept it for 11 yrs, used it as a daily driver the entire time, had it in 26 states from coast-to-coast, and never...

    265/75/16 vs 235/85/16

I've had both on my Tacoma, currently have the 235's and will be going back with them next time around. I haven't noticed any real differences in handling on the road and no real noticable difference off-road either. I went with them mostly because they are lighter than the same tire in 265.

Why no SAS on "expo" type trucks???

IFS and SAS can both work equally as well, depends on the terrain, driver, vehicle, etc. I laugh at people trying to justify one over the other for "overlanding".......they both work, just get out and drive what you like. I've had them all and liked and disliked certain things with all of them...

Cooper ST Maxx vs BFG AT KO2

I've got 36,600 miles on 235/85R16 ST Maxx's on my '03 Tacoma and they are still going strong. They have a little over 8/32 of tread left and have been great all-around tires. Good wet traction, smooth, quite, do great in the snow & ice, good off-road & good in the mud. We are getting ready...

    seanpistol's 01 Tundra

    '03 Tacoma Build

It is a Smittybilt 2801 winch plate that I bought on Amazon and cut down. It doesn't appear that they're available anymore but I imagine there's a new model number for the same plate. No real updates and nothing that I would really change.

    Demello vs. Shrockworks Sliders

CBI, does that help any :sombrero:? I had CBI custom make mine so that the rear hoop didn't stick out too far and I also changed the overall design up a little from what they normally offer.

    Big custom camper sightings

Very cool. Wish I had known that they were coming through Nashville. If you hear from them while they're in Nashville let them know that if they need a pit stop to do any repairs or to just relax, they are more than welcome at our place.

    '03 Tacoma Build

OK, I think I've now got almost all the different driving terrains checked off the list :sombrero: Corolla, NC this past week, sand is a strange animal. I tried it at 15 psig and 38 psig tire pressure, they both worked, but the lower was definitely better. My transmission was running fairly...

    Big custom camper sightings

Still not exactly sure what I ran into, but they were heading to the beach in Corolla, NC this past weekend :ylsmoke: They were marked "MAN Truck & Bus" / "TGM 13.290".

    Kayak Weight capacity?

Not sure how you feel about SOT's, but we just added two Perception Pescador 12.0's to our collection and they are wonderful boats at a great price. We got ours from Academy Sports. They are rated for 350 lbs, paddle very good and are stable.
