I have that same rack on my 2013 4Runner and a Tepui tent. It is an elegant solution and very rugged. Worth every penny especially since I bought mine used. I also have the Gobi ladder on the back which works well with the ARB rack.
I have done this in several vehicles, but I always start the same way... with a trip to EBAY to buy a used police console from Havis Shield. These are built very well and will hold radios, cups, switch plates, serve as a bus for power, USB chargers etc PLUS serve as a place to mount your laptop...
