What're your impressions of the 70-series muffler? I'm looking at one for my truck and really don't want it to drone in the cab like the 40-series I've used before.
Hey all,
I just snagged an iPad that I plan to use for GPS/navigation in my 4Runner. I've got the software all figured out so now the question is how to mount it. I'm looking at the proclip dash mount and combining that with a ram mount. I'm concerned that much leverage will cause issues with...
Are you referring to the stud adaptors? If so, those lengths do not. You need to add about an inch or so to account for them. The extended/compressed lengths came from Bilstein.
I didn't mention earlier but the lower bushings are 3/4" and 5/8". The 5/8" ones haven't been used.
Here are the pictures as promised. The shocks only have a few thousand miles on them and have always been used with appropriately long bumpstops. I took them off when I upgraded to 2.5" Radflos.
I have a pair of Bilstein 5165s for sale. Stud mount adaptors, billet reservoir clamps, and extra lower bushings are included. The finish isn't good but the shocks work fine. Specs are as follows:
Extended Length: 22.40 in / 569.0 mm
Collapsed Length: 13.64 in / 346.5 mm
Valving: 255/70

New leaf packs are always better than AALs but they cost more. The full pack will have better ride quality and flex than the AAL. The AALs are more likely to break than a whole new leaf pack too. I don't know that it's super common but something to keep in mind.
If it was my money? New leaf...
Why not call up Deaver or National Spring and have them make you some custom leaf springs? Or ask around in your country. I noticed you're in Germany so I feel like shipping leaf springs from the States would be pretty expensive.
One thing to plan on doing is installing an external transmission cooler. The stock unit is located in the radiator and is known to fail, allowing your coolant and trans fluid to mix. Its an easy mod and not too pricey (~$80) and addresses the only real weak spot. You'll see similar front travel...
Nice looking 4th gen, I don't see too many built up. Two questions: 1). Is your panhard rubbing the pumpkin? I see a little scuff on the diff cover. 2). Does the knob on the rear shocks adjust compression, rebound, or both?
BJ spacers and OME springs/shocks should do the trick. Try and find some progressive bumpstops front and rear too. I had that setup on my 87 pick-up and it was relatively comfy. The ride was nicer when I had some decent weight in the bed so I'd imagine the weight of the shell on your 4Runner...
Hey all,
I'm in the planning stages of my 4Runner build and I'm intrigued by the Radflo 2.0 rear shocks offered by Sonoran Steel. Does anyone run them and want to give me some feedback? They look great online but first hand reviews are always best.
