Why would you want a turbo on a generator with a constant speed?
Also, it is very easy to have 600HP electric that can provide that power all the time.
Well, you nix the transmission which saves a lot on complexity as well as the need for engines that need power and efficiency over a large RPM range. You can have a very simple, reliable, and cheap naturally aspirated engine that is optimized for efficiency at near its max power output to spin...
We upgraded the anti-sway var on our 2023 chassis cab Sprinter 3500 and would like to pay it forward to anyone who needs one. We are near Portland, OR in Fairview. PM me if interested.
Ram has a new Ramcharger coming next year that is a 1500 with a 92kWh battery pack and a V6 powered generator. It is essentially going to be similar to how modern diesel-electric locomotives operate. You can operate it normally as a BEV with pretty good range, but if you need longer range, the...
We have an Eco-cool by Premier. It is a Gree unit. AC, Heat pump, and dehumidifier in one. It is very quiet compared to the stock GE one, and it uses about 1,200W compared to 1,800W from the GE. It is also marketed as an Atmos and a Tosot.
We have considered starting a restaurant and had...
We had the brand new crappy loud AC on our EKKO replaced with one with a heat pump option and that thing is amazing. So nice not to use any gas at RV parks and we can even run it while driving to keep the house cool or warm for when we stop.
We also have a convection microwave that does good...
I can't imagine going back to propane. To boil water on our induction cooktop, it takes about 5 minutes pulling 1750W. That is 145Wh of electricity. I can get that back in solar with about 10 minutes of solar power. When I build my next rig, I plan to go all electric with only a backup...
Samsung is supposed to be fully into mass production by 2027 with their solid state batteries boasting a volumetric density of 900Wh/L. I did a little math on putting a battery pack in between the frame rails of a LMTV. I don't know what the pack volumetric density will be, but considering...
The other way I was thinking of doing this is to simply have a 120V inverter that sends AC back to the inverter charger generator input. I would be limited to the max idle output unless I had someway to increase the inverter load with RPM. The would probably limit me to about 3000 watts with...
Battery charging.
I am aware of the 48V alternators. They are ridiculously expensive. Here is a 56V alternator with 75% more power that is less than 1/3 the price. https://enginepartssuperstore.com/Category/MG976/Mahle-New-Alternator-AAN8217-56V-150A/
I am planning a 20kWh pack in the...
How much power can you transit? This is far a sprinter and they already make a 5,000W second alternator kit, so add that to the stock alternator, and that is close to 7,500W. Is the limit based on each individual pulley?
PTO won’t work as this is for recharging the house batteries while...
I keep finding that charging a 48V battery bank from the alternator is quite the challenge on many vehicles. Stock alternators maybe give you 2500watts max, then you have to convert it. I was thinking what if we exchanged the stock alternator with a high voltage alternator like 56V 60V or 72V...
I know this is an old thread, but did the company that made these go belly up? Their website doesn't connect and FB page hasn't been update in a while.
I was thinking of an Ekko while waiting to save up start my F550 expedition vehicle using your panels. I can get a loan for an Ekko easy, can't for a custom build. But looking at the backlog, I might get my expedition vehicle built before I could get an Ekko.
I really like the Ekko. I think it would be great if someone offered a super single conversion kit. I think the rear axle is 7,200 pounds, so need 3,600 pound tires and only found one in 265/75R16 with an F load rating that would exceed that.
