That's good stuff. I have to look up how different layout the engine components of our Dynas are. I also have a draft plan of where everything goes, but I dont want to hijack your post. Once I get some photos of it all I'll post it onto my existing Allochris camper thread, that way we can...
How's the turbo project going? My oil pan is unbolted for installation of the turbo drain tube adapter, but currently stuck above the lower crossmember. Looks like I need to unbolt & lower the whole lower half of the front suspension cradle about 4" to allow the oil pan free. Do you have a...
Is yours a 3L? I have a 5L and it's not that much faster when loaded/pulling a 1500-3500lbs trailer. Can you show some info/links for the turbo / kit you are using? I'm about to do the same engine mod & would like to see what parts you got planned for!
Also, do you have a dyno shop near by...
Please share a photo of the tag with the engine- tranny- axle code . What year? Auto/manual? AWD or 2spd transfer case? Single or dual rear wheels? Gvw?
It's a Non turbo. So far we've only just tried grooming at low speed (low 1st & 2nd) with gentle gas input at walking - speed walking pace, havent gone beyond 15km/hr yet. I can imagine in knee or deeper untracked pow, turbo would be nice to go faster at low 4th. Tracks are 2nd hand from Can-am...
I've been putting a lot of energy into another project (Thread) lately & the result paid off last night with its 1st grooming pass! Hopefully now that's almost out of most of my way, I can begin to focus on an almost complete redo on the camper interior layout to gain more precious usable space...
Here is a little teaser....we imported another JDM a year ago to take over the job of our aging old truck. (I.e. We no longer need to crawl though the 2 door extracab for our family & dog!!!) Final transplant details are in the works as time permits. It's a retired japanese fire truck, 2002 1...
Hi
Hi! Would you be able to post pictures of your stock rear and front ring & pinion gear as well as the carrier. Want to count teeths and opinion, as well as external ribs on the 3rds housing. Thx!
From my real world experience with a camper frame (made with 6061 1.5" square tubing and skinned inner (4mm plywood) and exterior (Al siding)) bolted down to a steel 1.5" thick flat deck with similar 12" rearward extension from the rearest frame mount, it is the global ensemble of the camper &...
chiming in here...about the rear 8" 3rd. Do the Hiace rear 3rd member (with the carrier contraption) share the same bolt pattern (onto the diff housing) as the common 4.10 rear 3rd from a 4cyl. 22re?
If it's directly bolt-on, why not just buy (for a few hundred bucks or less ) a used 4.1 3rd...
hi! I actually just won a Japan auction yesterday for a 02’ Ly270 firetruck with 16000km on the 5L 3.0 engine! Things are in the work as we speak! Cant wait!

question: what’s the difference between Ly270 & Ly280, or others?
I’m having...
so, what year did Dyna switch from having low range to not having low range? 2001/2ish?
im also in bc, looking into getting one of these Dynas.
So does it mean your Ly280 have Fulltime AWD? like a subaru?
hello there! it’s been like what, almost 10 years since i last posted! time flies by...since then my partner and I settled down just a bit. We bought land, built an offgrid house from scratch, had a kid, but somethings havent changed a bit. we still use our same old yota truck, hauling water...
here is a 2005 that just landed from Japan in summer of 2021 in BC. we just picked it up in October and we will be transforming this to a tracked over the snow vehicle for xc snow grooming and other future purpose for playing in the snow! Stay tuned for a thread about this transformation. Search...
Just a mini-update from our daily life...
Not much camper action lately... but we've been busy last few weekends getting fire wood!!!
I'm really curious how many lbs we loaded it up with!!! :)
We usually use the heater after skiing to dry our gloves, socks, liners, and skins etc. Then we would leave it on just until we hit the bed, so we actually sleep with it off with us tucked into our down bags. That way we just sleep better without worries of burning the camper down or carbon...
