Does the gaucho bed have seatbelts built in? Based off what I can find online, looks like the top bunk mattress should be ~ 74”x40”, does that seem right? Does that leave any room at the foot of the bed to still stand inside while the top bunk is used?
Pretty excited to see what direction you go with the 80 series! Now that I've got 2 more passengers you've got me really curious how you go about sleeping 4. I know the CampTEQ opened up a lot of possibilities, but I'd love to see what you did.
I'm a little jealous! Daily driving my 4Runner...
Wow our build thread is seriously dusty. A lot has changed in a few years. Maybe I'll post some updates one of these sleepless nights that our little ones keep us awake...:coffeedrink:
In quick summary, we moved to NC (Asheville area). Got sucked back into "the daily grind". Had two kiddos...
Not mine, not affiliated...just wanted to attach the details here for when the Craigslist ad dies:
"Frame and truck bed from a 1991 Toyota pickup, all custom welding
Extended tongue which makes the trailer more stable and easier to back up
V6 rear axle with pinion removed and overfilled with...
Feel free to post anything that you're wishing to get rid of and willing to bring to Expo East. If possible, please mention your route in case you will be passing through the neighborhood of other members on the forum and you're willing to make a pit stop. It would also be helpful if you could...
Over the past few months we've been fortunate to go on two TR deployments: storm relief in Augusta, GA and tornado relief for the current operation in Louisville, MS.
After leaving the fire service to travel and then after two years of travel I was starting to feel a little lost. People...
Statement was in reference to "fresh" meats in most of Central America and parts of South America. We never got used to the open-air meat markets, where big slabs of meat had been hanging for god-knows-how-long, with a rank smell and flies all around it. Your mileage may vary.
Of course...
Merv, are you interested in a trade? I've got some ocean-front property in Arizona :sombrero:
Good luck with the sale. Love your mog...sadly we never got to see it in person!
Cheers,
Brenton & Shannon
No worries, RMP&O. I guess sometimes I get paranoid about being misunderstood, which is easy on these forums.
Seriously. I've taken our rig to mechanics just because I didn't know what to do with the old oil, then I always wonder: are they actually disposing of this stuff or just dumping it...
Of course I don't always take the extreme routes, like in CA. I'm not saying the roads in SA are worse, but for the roads that we encountered, Bolivia/ARG/Chile were our worst. I hope it didn't sound like I was saying my route was worse or more difficult than what you've seen. I meant that...
Something else that has affected our vehicle lately is the super fine dust encountered in Southern Peru, Bolivia, Chile, and Argentina. On unpaved roads, there is a top layer of dust which is really the consistency of talcum powder. We do a full chassis lube with every oil change, which may...
Our rig was an uber clean, all stock garage queen when I bought it. It lived in rust-free Austin, Texas it's entire lifetime. I was the 3rd owner and the previous two owners kept meticulous records and receipts of everything that's been replaced or rebuilt over the years. The previous two...
For us, quite a few repairs popped up after about 25,000 miles and the insane corrugations added up after S.W. Bolivia, Argentina's northern ruta 40, and Chile's Carratera Austral.
