Just to make her even quieter, I pulled all my weathertech floor mats and all the rear panel doors, then lined them with generic DynaMat from parts express. I can't believe how much of a difference $75 of insulation makes.
I've been in a GX460 the last few years, but with 2 in laws and a dog on every trip I'm about ready for a sequoia. MPG of the newer models is nice but not among my primary concerns the way it would be used.
Some may disagree, but I think the Nissan build quality would be preferable to the Jeep. Are you specifically looking for a unibody? The Subaru big body comes to mind. There are other great family haulers out there... But most are body on frame and get terrible MPG
I had to deal with the dreaded barn door sag this weekend... e-tape on the locking bars and some white lithium grease on the moving latch pieces fixed it. Now she is back to quiet and smooth! If it were more extreme, kaon out in Oz makes some shims for the rear hinges...Hopefully I don't have to...
I just hand them my TX carry license along with my driver license and registration. Cops generally don't get too excited about such things here in Texas. Hands at 10 and 2 though
I love my GX460 and expect to put another 200k on it. I've driven 4runners and land cruisers but the only trade I would make is that new sequoia TRD pro or capstone. Super dope
I had my Dobinson lift installed December of 2020 and 20k later I love it. Had to replace all the fender liners and get a few fillings replaced but now she's a sweet riding GX
Most GX460s are leases that have been dealer serviced and garaged, so add that to the decision making process. Carmax usually has a good selection of them. GX470 is a great choice too if you don't mind their age. I love 4runner but they are a bit underpowered for loaded trips
Have you had any issues with the headlights since you did the lift? I just had mine lifted with the Dobinson kit and everyone is flashing their brights at me...Noob questions I know, never lifted any of my rides before
The old 200 LC was retired to the vacation house to live with the jeep. Would never use either as a DD...but yup, everyone is poor compared to somebody else!
The lexus factory crossbars are actually very well engineered and may surprise you. One of the highest quality accessories I've used and more than adequate for canoes kayaks or SUPs
I certainly agree, if I were to go hunting for any big cat I would be carrying something with more punch. People down here in TX like to hunt wild pigs with spears and knives, but you wont find me engaging in that either! 20g buck would be my most likely choice given my inventory, but I'm sure...
A light 30-30 load should be a good choice for mountain lion. I hear back in the day ML hunts were done with 22s... I've got my eye on a 357 Henry or a 30-30 mossberg, both in stainless.
