They track very well as singles. Your Kuhmo dealer should be able to get them in Perth for you, Just make sure that they are rated right at " 127Q ". They apparently had a lot of "124Q" available. Dan.
I've seen them, But will the manifold fit a 4D33 And the turbo is only for a 3.2 litre engine not a 4.2. Also as Alan says no wastegate. By the time you buy all the pipe work, including 3" exhaust and all the rest that you need and not have any warranty maybe $5,500 may not be that bad. Just my...
Only had 3 trees on the track that were a problem, in one place we went down the old track that had been blocked by a tree about 30cm thick and drove over it. The others we just went around. Should have taken more photos, the others we have are not that spectacular, I believe next time it will...
In summary
The rest of the trip was just site seeing around the tip and was well enjoyed. The return trip was down the development road, very corrugated but taking your time is the key to not damaging your vehicle. The tyres we bought worked out to be a good choice as we never had a problem...
The track is well eroded with one or both of the wheel tracks washed out. This meant that a lot of the time we were leaning one way or the other, certainly not to the my wife's liking. We only had three places that had large trees over hanging the track that we were forced to go around but it...
We knew we were going to have to do quite a few water crossing all at varying depth and the Canter is fitted with extended breathers on both gearbox, transfer case and diffs. But not high enough so they were extended to the top of the head board to give 1.5 metre of clearance. The breather on...
Palm creek
Under power on climb 1st gear low range. From the front and the back.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We are getting there, time doesn't let me get the whole story out at once. Winch routing - I will have to take a few photos when I get some time. A slide-on camper was fitted to the back of the Canter so we went in luxury compared to what my sister and brother had on their Nissans. They just had...
With the super singles comes the problem that the wider tyres just stick out of the front guards, so we needed to fit a set of front flares. These are universal rubber mudguard flares but to fit them you need to reinforce the plastic that they are fitted to. This was done by using 1.5mm sheet...
Sorry but you have to use rims that are in the 8" wide category. Alan (site name) had a batch made and I purchased them from him. Don't know who made the winch but is branded "Tiger11". Not a really expensive winch but I believe it will suit me for the amount of use I will give it. Hope it...
Finally able to post pics
Here are some pictures of my Kumho KL71's. they are 315/75-16 rated at 127Q. Have done over 5000 Klms on them so far and am very happy with them. Even though they are a open tread they give very little road noise.
Next we went for a winch. Had to be good enough to be able to un-stick it if it gets well and truly bogged. Trouble is big winches are heavy on the front of Canters that already have trouble with the front suspension bottoming out, so fit it elsewhere! The 20,000 lb winch was supplied by...
We went for a trip to the tip of Cape York up along the "Old Telegraph Track" in my Canter. But first I better show how it was set up and some of what we changed. It started life as a work vehicle.
--------------- Needed some super single wheels. Alan was able to supply some nice lite...
I'm in the process of getting my Mitsubishi dealer to chase a manual. They have a FG manual for their workshop so they were made. It covered up to but not including FG649.
The link works OK for me . That is what I used, if you read they are stainless beads 2 to 3 times larger than most other ones.
I'll eat my words it's not working now. I have a mailing address :- CALLIE'S KUSTOMS , P.o. Box 247 , CORNELIUS , or 97113 USA.
Still listed on Ebay...
Just got back today after doing over 4,500 Klms of both hi-way and dirt roads airing down and up a few times to suit the roads and at this stage I am more than happy my choice to go to tire beads .
Dan.
Yes they are 127Q rated. I've been trying to post up picture in your Canter Rims thread but can't post pictures. My computer won't allow it. Don't know why.
I've just put them in my 315/75 16 Kuhmo KL71 tires. Only done a little bit of running but I'm more than happy at the time being. I'll know more next week when we head up to the Cape. I went with the Callie's Kustoms stainless steel bought from Ebay . Apparently ceramic or glass beads break down...
