Interested in where you are headed with this. I am building up an e350 and kinda worried about head room as I am tall too (6'6"). No top currently in the budget but I also haven't lived in mine yet. I don't think an extra 12" of fiberglass around the top would add to much weight.

Looks a lot like a micarta pin. You can get them in different colors to match stuff like this. That is one awesome looking knife BTW!

I can't be super helpful as I have never mounted one to my Van but I did have one on my Tacoma before getting the Van. On my Tacoma the base was mounted at chin level for me (around 6'2") to help keep it out of the wind. My biggest complaint with the tent was having to get on my tip toes to zip...

I will look into that. May be too advanced for my simple electrical ability. Never use the factor lights as is. The center bulb is even removed because I don't want the lights coming on every time I open the door. Not sure if I would need them to stay connected to the starting battery.

Bought the whale pump that Trailscape linked to. Got overseas pretty quickly. Now just waiting in time and money to buy the faucet. Those look very viable as well.

Decided that the fancy lift will have to wait as I bought an "accessory" for the van that will give me more smiles! Lol Still want to add stiffer springs, shocks, and add a leaf to give me some height for some AT tires and a better ride.

Still have several things planned in the near future including a Maxxair roof vent some overhead lights. Anyone know if it is possible to hack into the factory rear overhead lights? As is they shut off after 10 mins or so and won't turn back on unless I open the door.

Then put the Raamat and reflectix in the walls and doors. Then put down a plywood floor with wood flooring look vinyl flooring. I plan on adding more insulation when I can buy a roll of poly insulation.

Haven't posted in a while... Took the seats, seat belts, and carpet out. Cleaned up a couple of rusts spots and then laid down some Raamat, foam, and mass loaded vinyl. Also installed a passenger side seat swivel.
