Introducing the “NEW” Alu-Cab Canopy Camper

Small DIY project to make filling the water tank easier and less prone to spilling water all over the camper. Ordered a second water tank cap and drilled a hole in it to accommodate an RV water inlet. Then made a nut out of a PVC cap that I drilled to size.

Introducing the “NEW” Alu-Cab Canopy Camper

Currently facing the same issue right now. It definitely seems like a design flaw with the tank. My tank hasn’t been used since November and I’m going to sterilize it this week. In terms of getting the small amount of water out of the bottom I was thinking of disconnecting the breather and using...

Introducing the “NEW” Alu-Cab Canopy Camper

Nice, that actually sounds pretty close to how I want it set up. Who installed your camper / did the installer provide the regulator hose to female quick connect?

Introducing the “NEW” Alu-Cab Canopy Camper

Anyone have a parts list / info on converting the propane line for the Dickinson heater to use a quick connect? Seen a few people with that setup, but I'm not sure where they have the regulator located. Ideally I'd like to also add a splitter so I can hook up a stove / bbq without disconnecting...

Hey - saw your build post in the ACCC thread and noticed you specifically mentioned the hammer hangers. I am looking at adding them to my build but wanted to ask if you wheeled the truck with the camper on prior to adding them? If so, what was the main area / style of driving you noticed...

Introducing the “NEW” Alu-Cab Canopy Camper

Did you get the large size in the rakattach 2.0? Do you have a high clearance bumper? Seems like it should work with a bumper that has an integrated hitch which would be ideal.

Introducing the “NEW” Alu-Cab Canopy Camper

Mine feels good on the highway, only noticeable difference is a tiny bit more body roll when cornering at high speed, otherwise it’s smooth. A shaky feeling could indicate a tire balancing issue, I have experienced that in the past. Have you recently rotated your tires and if so, has it become...

Nice, thanks for the info. That system looks ideal.

Introducing the “NEW” Alu-Cab Canopy Camper

Anyone have a nice simple solution to keep the external water tank tap clean and secure? I’ve looked at a few RV faucet options and also soft velcro covers - the RV options are a bit more complex than I need and the soft covers seem too flimsy / insecure. Some kind of locking hard cover would be...

Introducing the “NEW” Alu-Cab Canopy Camper

Anyone know where this dust is coming in from and how to seal it? I used foil tape and silicone under the plastic bedside caps before the camper was installed, so I don’t think it’s the holes in the top of the bedsides. Are there larger holes under the bed rail on the third gen Tacoma?

Introducing the “NEW” Alu-Cab Canopy Camper

Anyone know what the plugs on the bottom back side of the Alu Cab water tank are supposed to look like? The shop that installed my camper forgot to put the plugs in the back side of the tank so first the first time I filled it, my camper ended up full of water ? It’s been difficult to get the...

Introducing the “NEW” Alu-Cab Canopy Camper

Ok thanks! Had a few issues with the installer and wanted to confirm that the heater was working as expected.

Introducing the “NEW” Alu-Cab Canopy Camper

Dickinson heater owners - do you notice a significant different between low and high setting? The flame looks almost identical to me.

Interesting... How did they end up fixing it?

Introducing the “NEW” Alu-Cab Canopy Camper

I deployed the awning on the front of the camper's tent for the first time over the weekend, and found that one of the rods conflicts with the location of the Dickinson chimney / deck fitting. The rod is rubbing against the deck fitting and the awning isn't properly tensioned. Anyone else with...

Introducing the “NEW” Alu-Cab Canopy Camper

I was thinking of running the panel lights through one of the switches on the panel so they can be turned off - I'd like to be able to keep my fridge running without the panel lights on. Do you have them hooked up directly to the positive bus (if so, do you use the master battery switch /...

Introducing the “NEW” Alu-Cab Canopy Camper

Thanks @TailLights. I do like the point about the granularity. Correct, each circuit is protected by its own breaker. I dug up some photos of various installations and it looks like it's common to place a positive bus right beside the switch panel and then run the short feeds from the panel...

Introducing the “NEW” Alu-Cab Canopy Camper

Question for folks that have the Blue Sea Weatherdeck 8 switch breaker panel: the wiring diagram it comes with is for the 6 switch model, which only has one positive wire. In the diagram it shows the single positive wire fused between the battery and the panel. Since the 8 switch panel has 2...

Introducing the “NEW” Alu-Cab Canopy Camper

My truck has a Prinsu rack with a notch cut out of it to accommodate the Alu-Cab table. I already had the Prinsu on the truck before I installed the Canopy Camper, so this was a good option for my needs.
