Here's the trail after the snow. Obviously I had to walk here instead of driving. The terrain was steep and rocky! Looking in the other direction now, West into the mountains. The trail continues.... And stops at the top. This is where the original Rollins pass tunnel was, well over...

Waking up in Blackhawk, we saw this crazy construction project they have going on. The Ameristar Casino is building a 30 story hotel tower, whereas the highest building currently is 7 stories tall. One place (I) wanted to check out but didn't get to is the "Oh my Gawd road". I didn't know...

Another meadow view: The trail winded steeply down a dirt road and eventually met up with the Peak-to-Peak Highway. From here, we headed north and quickly intercepted the road to Gold Hill. A couple miles down this road, we turned right (south) onto the Switzerland trail. This trail follows an...

**********Day 2:********** Day 2 started out on the intermediate section of the Caribou Creek trail. This trail easily warrented the extra rating, because of maybe 10 key obstacles that might have presented a challenge to stock vehicles/ inexperienced drivers. I also found out that while both...

    Nederland/ Indian Peaks Wilderness, CO

Hello! So my wife and I had 2 short days to have a little anniversary getaway. I thought since we had just gotten a truck, it would be a great time to get outside and enjoy the excellent July weather. As you may know, in July most of the snow *should* be melted from the higher areas in Colorado...

Looks nice. I always thought the CC frontier looked a little awkward with the size of the wheels and the stock ride height. That really brings it up to a good level and makes it look a lot tougher. :)

If you put something behind the front seats, does it prevent you from being able to lift up the bottom? I noticed that when you lift up the seat bottom it flattens it against the back wall.

How much road noise do you get with the all terrains? I'm looking at that tire size, checking out different tires, but I don't want to really go with something that hums like crazy. I won't be driving on the interstate MUCH, I hope, but I'd like it to be reasonably quiet. Also, has your gas...

    Black Bear & Imogene

Wow, that reminds me how great Black Bear Pass is. It's just amazing. One of the coolest places in Colorado for sure. Those switchbacks freak me out, I don't think I would want to take my long wheelbase truck on those!

That is an interesting direction you went with the rear springs. It seems like it would be a better way to go, instead of the AAL that most of the kits come with. Are those new rear spring packs expensive? How is the ride quality and articulation? Did you keep the extended rear shackles, or did...

That's pretty cool, beefing up the front end. How much would you say that mod would set back the average individual? I'm thinking something like $1,000, maybe more? I mean, lots of labor, lots of parts, right? Also, how big of a tire do you think you can fit under the bed? I'd like to keep all...

Pathfinder Aluminium Skid Plates for 05+

Well, I did take 2 materials classes in college. One thing I can tell you is, aluminum does not in fact have a higher strength to weight ratio than steel. Good aluminum is better than cheap steel, no doubt, but good engineering grade steel does have a virtually identical str/ weight ratio as...

Pathfinder Aluminium Skid Plates for 05+

Wouldn't it be better to have steel skid plates as opposed to aluminum? I know the aluminum would cost less, but the steel ones should be stronger/ more ductile if they aren't too thin. Also, do you know what the cost is for this stuff?

    Frontier CC expedition worthy???

Not to nit-pick, but diesels are always higher compression than gasoline engines. That is how they work. :) Navara would be cool, too bad you can't get em in the US. Probably doesn't conform to our crash standards and emissions standards.

    2007 Xterra (10000 mi. Update)

Good writeup! I think the 4.0L engine is wonderful, and the 6 speed manual transmission mates up very well to it. I really like that the 4.0L engine shares its lineage with the legendary VQ35 engine, arguably one of the best large scale production V-6 engine ever made.

    Frontier CC expedition worthy???

This sounds cheesy but every time I drive it I fall in love a little more! It's crazy because I used to dislike truck/SUV drivers, now I am one. I also like the high "king of the road" seating position, I don't feel like a potential victim on crowded streets. My previous vehicles were 2 toyota...

    Frontier CC expedition worthy???

Okay, so I ended up getting the Service Managers Demo vehicle, so while I bought it as a new car, it actually has 5100 miles on it. I figure the lead mechanic probably takes decent care of the vehicle, and it's probably broken in a little better! I ended up getting a smokin deal on it, $3500 in...
