Remove weld splatter with sander, wire brush welds to remove any scale, wipe down with acetone/mek/ or any oil free solvent. prime with DTM primer(direct to metal) paint and enjoy. make sure any sealed tubing has a small drain hole to allow moisture out especially if you live where it freezes.
i installed buck stop front and rear on my 01 F350 in 02, they have seen a lot of miles and abuse ( pushing stuck forklifts out of the mud is just one memory) the fit and finish still look great to this day.
full buckstop kit and a re-gear? I hope the ride improvements are epic! The buckstop kit is a great one. i have many of their products. good stuff for sure.
That was my decision as well. Easy to balance the toyos, full weight capacity, reasonably priced tires, quite, good wear, always have two spares should you loose a front. I have had no issues with stuck rocks.
i have only had my GXV for a few months however i can report 9mpg on or off road. the maintenance cost for the truck are the same as any 3/4 - 1 ton truck.
we just put one on a dodge Dakota and it was a snap. the quality of the finished fit and look is entirely up to you, which is nice, easy to follow directions and, if you know what you are doing, complete confidence in the welding.
DBL Designs has a full kit or buckstop.biz The kit from buckstop is real nice and can include the wheels, tires, fenders, lift, bumpers, running boards, and skid plates for around $18K
