Lady Godiva: 2017 Ram 3500 CCLB Build

Additional thoughts and musings after taking our camper out for 4 days this past weekend. - Truck will greatly benefit from the Thuren/King suspension package I have on order. The ride unloaded is predictably rough, but when loaded the shocks just aren't up to the task. They are most definitely...

Lady Godiva: 2017 Ram 3500 CCLB Build

Just a little update. As we get closer to our intended departure date (which is dependent upon when our house sells), more and more attention will be focused on the truck and camper. So the paced of updates should pick up a little bit as I get all of the goodies that have accumulated on my work...

Battleship Jones: 2015 Tacoma DCLB Build Thread

Well folks, it is with great sadness that I will be putting the truck up for sale in the coming weeks. It has been a long journey, one with blood, sweat, tears, learning and lots of money, but the realities of storing, paying for, and insuring a vehicle while we are on the road are just too...

Ram 2500 XL for overland / expedition trips

I've received a few quotes from the Line-X places in the area. Line-X of Castle Rock had the best price, Line-X of Boulder had the highest price, but they were within 10% of one another. I'm not sure if they typically vary any greater than that though.

Ram 2500 XL for overland / expedition trips

Was that regular Line-X or premium? The guys at the Line-X shop recommended premium to me due to additional UV protection. Don't know how true that is, but I have an appointment next week and will find out.

Lady Godiva: 2017 Ram 3500 CCLB Build

Thank you for all of the tire advice! Still haven't made up my mind at this point, but I still have a little bit of time to do so. Anyone ever piece together an on-board air compressor kit to supply the air bags AND fill tires? The only kit I can find that fits the bill is this one...

O rly. I read that the 285/75s did not rub. If that's the case, perhaps I'll be looking at 295/70s then, I really hate rubbing and don't want to get into aftermarket wheels or trimming at this time.

Ain't that the truth, it's tough to gamble $1,200 like that with no definitive answers out there. For every person that says "This tire is the best!" the next person chimes in saying it's the worst tire in the history of ever and they would never run it again. I'm finding it tough to find a...

    Bruiser the Adventure Cargo Trailer

We purchased a hard side cab-over truck camper and a Ram 3500. It’s not nearly as nimble as the Tacoma and trailer might be, but it should, in the long run, work out better for us. I wish I had the time to build out the trailer but the plan morphed from rudimentary trailer to a more well...

Turns out if you Google 'naked woman on horse' there are way more naked women on horses than I would have thought. Had to check it out for uh, research purposes. ;)

    Bruiser the Adventure Cargo Trailer

Sorry to disappoint! The reality is that the wife and I are selling our house in a couple of months and hitting the road, the amount of work that needed to get done in that time was just too much; perhaps if I could take multiple weeks off from work or had some help I could have made it happen...

And, order placed for suspension! Went through Thuren and ended up with the 0.5" lift soft front coils, the track bar, and 2.5" Kings remote reservoir shocks valved with Stage 2. They will be set-up for 3,500 lbs worth of payload. Now to wait the 5-6 weeks and hope they show up on time, cause we...

Lady Godiva: 2017 Ram 3500 CCLB Build

Thank you! That is exactly the kind of feedback I am looking for, not to mention the almost exact truck configuration I'm looking to build. Air Lift bags are on the way along with some Daystar cradles, and I keep waffling about a lift kit and am glad to hear that it rides well with the Thuren...

Lady Godiva: 2017 Ram 3500 CCLB Build

Anyone have experience running quality aftermarket shocks, like King 2.5s, with the OEM springs? Most of the suspension packages I am seeing (with the exception of Thuren 0.5" lift front springs) try to lift and level the truck, or maintain slight rake, while unloaded, which is undesirable once...

Some people make their first mod a lift kit, or tires, or a performance chip to get an extra 100 HP, me, I prefer to focus on the important things first. By which I mean the wholly unnecessary but gives me a little bit of satisfaction every time I open the fuel door type mod. Yes, I know the...

Ram 2500 XL for overland / expedition trips

For reference, on my Tacoma I ran a set of Icons initially before ponying up for a set of Kings. Go Kings. 300%. The digressively valved Icons were definitely more street friendly in terms of managing body roll, but they tended to be harsh over small bumps and blow through their travel over...

Custom Cargo Craft Offroad 6x12 Cargo Trailer

Hi Karl, You don't happen to be local to Denver do you? At least with the Camco and Lock n Roll, they are probably big and heavy enough that shipping charges would kill any price difference I could offer on either. The Blue Sea block and 100A breaker however would fit nicely in a package. Fuse...
