The front door hinges on the FJ55 wear out. The easiest solution is to look for a pair in good shape and simply swap them out. I'm not sure if anyone is making a bushing kit? I'd grab one of those gears that Cruiser Guy is building as that is one of the harder things to find on the Pigs. At...
X2 on what Ed said! I went back and forth b/t the models and drove Mario crazy. It came down to the kitchen/awning for me. I've got three kids so it's important to have everything really close and quick to get to. In so saying that, I really like the lines of the Chaser! Whatever your...
WOW, congrats on the 300K! What have been the main items that you have replaced? I have a guy that works for me that bought his FJ62 new in 89 and is still on the same engine with 322K!
Yep, the memories!!! That is exactly what I remember GG's sailboarding set-up looking like! His boards were all like 7 foot long or shorter and I think made of kevlar. The tops were all concaved (hence the name spoon) to probably save weight and some displacement qualities. Way smaller and...
George Greenough, haven't heard that name in years! In the sailboarding world he was way out ahead of the curve with his "spoon" board and his harness that consisted of a 18" hook that just plain stuck out of the harness and looped over the boom (the conventional method was a line attached to...
Man David, sorry to hear about your negative experience. I installed a set of DBA Golds with OEM pads on the front of the Defender last month and am pretty happy with the set-up. It's tough and sometimes risky to vary from stock.
My vote is to powdercoat the bumpers. I've observed that in sunny SoCal, surfaces with PC handle the UV better than surfaces that have been Rattle Canned. There are of course a lot of different variables that could affect this, but was just wondering which treatment handles the UV the best?
Welcome Aboard!
Great place to play! I did that same route last year and had a blast. Crab Flats is a great place to camp as it is in the middle of so many fun trails b/t Arrowhead and Big Bear. In addition, since it is kind of remote you usually don't get the typical crowds.
Man, your 60 is looking great with the ARB/Winch! Did you also just Line "X" / Rhinoline the lower panels, don't remember seeing that before? Also thinking those mirrors look more like ones from a 62 minus the chrome?
Ed, know what you mean. When my winch was new the cable had some type of light grease, maybe cosmoline (sp?)? Not sure what to tell you but I'm sure someone will pipe up soon with the facts.
