We carry a tow strap, a come-a-long, traction pads, tire repair kit and a good spare. Plugged a tire in Costa Rica last trip, cracked a wheel hitting a blind tope at speed in Mexico trip before last. Helped many stranded others along the way. Sheet happens.
You are probably more than capable to handle it. It is a straight forward conversion and Ujoint has it pretty dialed. Send the tranny to a shop to swap out the tail shaft, have someone make a couple driveshafts and do the exhaust modifications. And if you don’t get a new fuel tank probably get...
Definitely. The only drawback I see with the F series is the overall height. Can definitely keep an E series sub 10ft clearance, looking closer to 12ft with the F series. The lack of pass through as well, but that issue is fixable.
Thanks. I bought it as a unit. It was less than $31k out the door, the msrp on the chassis alone was over $32k. It was a 2016 special ordered and then buyer did not take delivery of it and sat on the lot for two years. It is a major pain to search for one, lots of time invested just scrolling...
Thanks. Yes it is possible to have both seats swivel. In our last e-series we had both but rarely used the driver seat, so left it strictly for the cock pit in this build. You might opt for an electric shift transfer case to eliminate tripping over the shifter.
E-series= Most capable back...
We had a contract on a piece of land in Nandayure, Costa Rica. Covid caused that to dissolve. Costa Rica opens back up November 1, at which point we could continue to pursue our dream........
Thanks!! Not really, it checked all the boxes and did it well. But the key being we bought the van new and out the door for $30,500, so it made it an easy win. We have been looking at the market and not much out there right now. Depending on what you could buy one for, I think a cab chassis...
No they were not glued down. I used the floating interlocking planks. Our visible floor was about 3x6, but the whole floor was covered and the cabinets were installed on top. If the sun was beating through the door they would swell and raise up off the floor pretty quickly and take much longer...
I have installed the floors first in the last two builds and won’t do it again. I have used vinyl planks, they are nice, durable and clean up well but they expand and contract more than I would have thought. Used cork on the last build and liked them a lot but no where near as durable as other...
Totally dependent on what tricks your trigger when you travel. Some people like the beaten paths and there is no shortage of fun without 4x4. For us it is a requirement on an adventure mobile. We don’t purposely go 4-wheeling but the places we like to frequent require it. Sometimes just to get...
I framed the ceiling fans with ply but used a generic construction adhesive for that, since they were mechanically fastened from the exterior as well. Ceiling panels were attached to the existing roof stringers.
I scuffed the ply and walls, cleaned and then set with 5200, using load locks to...
